James Allen Strong  (1935 ~ 1985)

 

5.3.4.1.8. Eighth child of Effie V. Adams and David G. Strong, James AllenJimStrong, was born October 11, 1935, in Cartwright Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  He married Norma Frances Alger, daughter of Charles Lorne Alger and Frances Elizabeth Ingram, June 27, 1959, in Sonya, Mariposa Twp., Victoria Co., Ontario and had four children:

  James A. Strong died December 27, 1985, aged 50 years, in Bowmanville, Ontario and is interred at Pontypool Cemetery.

At the Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Friday, December 27, 1985. James AllenJimStrong of Pontypool in his 51st year. Beloved husband of Norma Alger and dear father of Garry and his wife Sherry, Steven, Robin and Susan of Pontypool. Dear brother of Mary (Mrs. Howard Brown) of Bowmanville, Vera (Mrs. Howard McKay) of Lindsay, Jean (Mrs. Albert Knapp) of R.R.6, Lindsay. Also William and David both predeceased. Rested at Mackey Funeral Home, Peel St., Lindsay. Funeral service was held in the Chapel on Monday, December 30. Spring Interment, Pontypool Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, Jan. 2, 1986.

 

Garry G. Strong

December 19, 1960 ~ October 29, 1993

Garry George Strong, 32, a resident of George Street East, Lindsay, died at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital, October 29, 1993.

  Born in Bowmanville, Garry was the son of Norma Alger and the late James Strong (1985). He attended Grandview Public School and I. E. Weldon Secondary School.

  Garry’s love revolved around his little son Philip, his niece and nephews.

  He was unemployed at the time of his death and he passed his time doing a number of crafts including woodworking. His woodwork was done to perfection and his enjoyment showed in the quality of his work.

  He played baseball for a number of years and was also a member of a judo club.

  The funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. from the Mackey Funeral Home in Lindsay. Rev. Ruggles Constant of Cambridge Street United Church, Lindsay, officiated the service with interment at Little Britain United Church Cemetery. The pallbearers were Joe Alger, Dale Curtis, Scott Hoy, James McKay, Lewis Strong and Richard Strong.

  Mr. Strong is survived by his mother Norma Strong, his son, Philip Strong of Lindsay, his brothers Steven and his wife Alexandra, Robin and friend Janna, all of Oshawa; his sister Susan Gibbs and her husband Dale. He is also survived by his grandmother Frances Alger of Lindsay and his grandfather Charles Alger of Huntsville. He is dearly remembered by his niece Ashley and his nephews Daniel and Christopher.
