Elsie Mildred Adams (1902 ~ 1967)
5.3.4.2. Second child of Martha J. Adams, Elsie Mildred Adams, was born December 23, 1902, in New Park, Clarke Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.
She married William Henry Ruttan Knapp, son of Daniel Abraham Knapp and Louisa Agnes Demill, March 1, 1921, in Toronto, Ontario and had four children:

Elsie M. Adams Knapp McCullough Strong died October 26, 1967, aged 64 years in Bowmanville, Ontario and is interred at Ballyduff Cemetery and William H. Knapp died October 14, 1930, aged 38 years in Peterborough, Ontario and is interred at Hampton Union Cemetery.

Elsie M. Adams Knapp McCullough Strong
The death of Mrs. Lorne Strong occurred suddenly at Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville on Thursday, October 26, 1967. She was in her 65th year.
Born in Clarke Township, the former Elsie Mildred Adams attended New Park School in Clarke Township. On June 21, 1946, she married Lorne Strong who survives. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Knapp.
The deceased had resided at Lotus for 21 years. A housewife, her interests centred around her home and family. She was a member of Ballyduff Presbyterian Church.
Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. G. Britton (Mildred), R.R.2, Pontypool, and Mrs. R. Hayford (Phyllis) of Lindsay; and five sons, Daniel of Bowmanville, Murray of Oshawa, Clifford of R.R.2, Pontypool, Stanley of Burketon and Earl of Port Perry.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mae Scott of Toronto and Mrs. Myrtle Pearce of Newcastle, and three brothers, Jim Fowler of Brooklin, Albert Fowler of Peterborough and Elmer Fowler of Bowmanville.
The funeral service was held from the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, on Saturday, October 28, 1967, and was conducted by Rev. F. Swann. Interment was in Ballyduff Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs. Bruce Knapp, Charles Knapp, Lorence Britton, Bill Britton, Wayne King, and Ronald Taylor. Bowmanville Statesman, Nov. 15, 1967.
William H. Knapp
May 9, 1892 ~ October 14, 1930
As the result of an accident with a threshing outfit, near Peterborough, William H. R. Knapp, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Knapp, Lotus, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 1930, aged 38 years. He had lived in Cartwright Township the greater part of his life and was a young man that was highly respected. He was of a quiet and friendly disposition and his death came as a great shock to his parents and friends.
The funeral took place on Friday, October 17th, and was largely attended. Rev. Mr. Adamson conducted the funeral services and spoke very highly of the deceased. Interment was made in the family plot at Hampton Cemetery.
He leaves to mourn besides his sorrowing wife, three sons and one daughter, all at home; his father and mother; five brothers, Louis and Mervin of North Oshawa, Gordon of Toronto, Oliver of Leskard, and Norman of Oshawa; and four sisters, Mrs. George Spencer of Columbus, Mrs. Albert Goodman and Mrs. William Scott of Toronto, and Mrs. Fred Boynton of North Oshawa; all whom attended the funeral.
Floral tributes included a wreath from the father and mother; prayers from Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Knapp, Mr. and Mrs. George Strong, Mr. and Mrs. William Scott, Mr. and Mrs. George Spencer, Mrs. and Mrs. Norman Knapp, Rev. and Mrs. Adamson.
The pallbearers were Harold Knapp, Alvin Spencer, Leslie Gibson, Albert Fowler, Mr. Lathangue, and Wilbert Gainer. Bowmanville Statesman, Oct. 30, 1930.
John J. McCullough
September 30, 1892 ~ June 10, 1972
The death of John James McCullough, which resulted from a car accident, occurred on Saturday, June 10, 1972, at Seagrave. He was in his 84th year.
Son of the late Joe and Martha McCullough, he was born in Manvers Township. A farmer for many years, he retired 20 years ago. He resided at R.R.2, Blackstock, moving there from Lotus in Manvers Township, and was a member of the United Church.
Mr. McCullough is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Hayford (Phyllis), and two sons, Earl and Stanley.
The funeral service was held from the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville on Tuesday, June 13, and was conducted by Rev. G. K. Ward. Interment was in Ballyduff Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs. Robert Adams, Ernie Adams, Bruce Lee Jr., Ranson Bell, William Britton and Clifford Ramsay. Bowmanville Statesman, June 21, 1972.
G. Lorne Strong
October 1, 1902 ~ April 28, 1971
The death of George Lorne Strong occurred on Wednesday, April 28, 1971 at R.R.2, Pontypool, following an illness of one month. He was in his 69th year.
Son of the late John Strong and Eliza Fowler he was born in Manvers Township, Durham County, on October 1, 1902, and attended Lotus Public School. On June 29, 1946, he married the former Elsie Mildred Knapp who predeceased him.
Mr. Strong lived all of his life in Manvers Township, except for the last two years when he resided with Mr. and Mrs. G. Britton, R.R.2, Pontypool. He was a farmer and continued for many years in this occupation, and was then employed for 10 years with the Department of Highways. He retired four years ago. The deceased was a member of the Orange Lodge at Lotus.
Surviving are seven step-children, Mrs. G. Britton (Mildred), Mrs. R. Hayford (Phyllis), Daniel, Murray, Clifford, Stanley and Earl.
The funeral was held on Friday, April 30 from the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, and was conducted by Rev. J. S. Gilchrist. Interment was in Ballyduff Cemetery.
