Thomas Elmer Fowler  (1915 ~ 1969)

 

5.3.4.5. Fifth child of Martha J. Adams and R. Wesley Fowler, Thomas ElmerPatFowler, was born October 2, 1915, in Manvers Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  He married (1) Luella Florence Harris, daughter of Charles Thomas Harris and Mary Alice Stephenson, May 20, 1940, in Newcastle, Ontario and had one child:

  He married (2) Olive Davison, daughter of Henry Herbert Davison and Mary Elizabeth Schofield, December 20, 1958, in Stirling, Ontario.

  T. Elmer PatFowler died December 31, 1969, aged 54 years and L. Florence Harris Fowler died May 30, 1957, aged 49 years in Bowmanville, Ontario and are interred at Bowmanville Cemetery.

The engagement is announced of Florence Luella Harris, R.N., only daughter of Mrs. Charles Harris and the late Charles Harris of Orono, to Thomas Elmer Fowler, son of Mr. Wesley Fowler of Bowmanville. The marriage to take place quietly at a later date. Bowmanville Statesman, May 9, 1940.

Miss Florence Luella Harris, R.N., daughter of Mrs. Charles Harris and the late Charles Harris, of Orono, was united in marriage to Thomas Elmer Fowler, son of Mr. Wesley Fowler, of Bowmanville, on Monday, May 20, 1940. Rev. S. Littlewood officiated. Orono Weekly Times, May 23, 1940.

T. Elmer "Pat" Fowler

In ailing health for several years, the death of Thomas Elmer (Pat) Fowler, aged 54 years, occurred at his residence, 63 Lamb’s Lane, Bowmanville, on Wednesday, December 31, 1969.

  Son of the late Wesley and Martha (Adams) Fowler, he was born at Columbus, Ont., and attended Leskard School. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Florence Harris, in May, 1957, and is survived by his second wife, the former Olive Davison, whom he married on December 20, 1958.

  The deceased had resided at 63 Lamb’s Lane for just two weeks prior to his death, and before moving there lived at 58 Liberty St. South for a number of years. An employee of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, he had 25 years service with the company, retiring in April, 1968. He was a member of Trinity United Church and was also a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 436, Orono.

  Surviving, besides his wife Olive, are a son, John, and three grandsons, Steven, Tom and Johnny, all of Bowmanville. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Albert of Peterborough, Mrs. George Scott (Mae) of Brampton, Jim of Iron Bridge and Mrs. Albert Pearce (Myrtle) of Newcastle. A brother, Fred predeceased him.

  The funeral service was held on Friday, January 2, 1970, from the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, and was conducted by Rev. George Ward of Trinity United Church. Interment was in Bowmanville Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were Messrs. Bill Malley, Tom Masterson, Jim Terry, Milton Terry, Garfield Fowler and Larry Pearce.

  Among the many lovely floral tributes, evidence of the esteem in which the deceased was held, were from the Orono Odd Fellows Lodge No. 436, Court Venture No. L18, Commercial Hockey League, Town Hockey League, N.H.L., Pee Wee Hockey League, and Mixed Major Bowling League. L. Florence Harris Fowler

May 25, 1908 ~ May 30, 1957

Florence Luella Fowler of 54 Liberty Street South, Bowmanville, a nurse on the staff of Memorial Hospital who was regarded with respect and affection by all with whom she came in contact, died on May 30, 1957 at the age of 49.

  Mrs. Fowler had acted as a special nurse in Bowmanville for eight years and was in her sixth year on the hospital staff. She received her nurse’s training at Ontario Hospital, Whitby, from which she graduated, and received her R.N. degree at Belleville. She followed her profession as a nurse in Cobourg and Toronto for several years before coming to Bowmanville.

  The deceased was a daughter of Mrs. Charles Harris of Orono, and the late Mr. Harris, and was born on Scugog Island. She was a member of Trinity United Church and of the Nurses’ Association. She had a host of friends and will be remembered by all those who came under her care for her cheery nature. She will be greatly missed by her fellow staff members.

  She leaves her husband, one son John, and a brother, Frank Harris of Stouffville, as well as her mother, Mrs. Charles Harris, Orono.

  Funeral service held on June 2 in the Morris Funeral Chapel, was largely attended. Rev. T. Arthur Morgan conducted the service. There were many beautiful flowers, among them tributes of the Nurses’ Association, Hospital Board, Hospital Staff, Goodyear Revceiving Room, Goodyear Local 189, Maple Grove Soccer Team, Bowmanville Juvenile Baseball team.

  Pallbearers were Messrs. Fred Wilson, Rex Stephenson, Lawrence Harris and Charles Taylor, cousins of the deceased, and Jim Fowler and Albert Fowler, brothers-in-law. Interment was in Bowmanville Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, June 20, 1957.

 

Olive Davison Fowler Richards

May 31, 1908 ~ March 5, 1985

Suddenly at her residence on Tuesday, March 5, 1985, in Oshawa in her 77th year. Olive Davison, beloved wife of the late Pat Fowler and the late Gordon Richards. Loving mother of John Fowler, Don Richards, Audrey Cookson and James Richards of New Brunswick. Friends may call at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, Mar. 6, 1985.
