Patricia Maude Adams  (1926 ~ 1991)

 

5.3.5.2. Second child of Samuel J. Adams and Mary Pickles, Patricia Maude Adams, was born January 22, 1926, in Guelph, Ontario. 

  She married Wilmer Lamont Schiffer, son of John Albert Shiffer and Ina Harriet Gould, July 23, 1945, in Guelph, Ontario and had seven children:

  Patricia M. Adams Schiffer Hockin died October 19, 1991, aged 65 years in Wallaceburg, Ontario and Wilmer L. Schiffer died August 22, 1988, aged 75 years in London, Ontario and are interred at Robin Hill Cemetery, London, Ontario.

Patricia M. Adams Schiffer Hockin

Patricia Maude Hockin was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Pickel) Adams. She was born in Guelph and resided in Thorndale for 12 years then lived in Edmonton until 1986 moving to Wallaceburg one year ago.

  Beloved wife of William Hockin. Dear mother and mother-in-law of John and Gayle Schiffer of Byron, Mary and Phillip McCormack of Wallaceburg, Robert and Pat Shiffer of London, Karl and Marie Shiffer of Wallaceburg, and Karen and Wayne Cooper of Petrolia. Sadly missed by 6 grandchildren and one great grandaughter.

  Predeceased by her first husband Wilmer Schiffer (1988). Two sons: Kurt (1975) and Michael (1950) and a grandaughter Patricia (1966).

  The late Mrs. Hockin rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street, Wallaceburg, until Monday October 21, 1991 when funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Linklater of St. James Anglican Church Officiating. Interment was in Robin Hill Cemetery, London. London Free Press, October ?, 1991.

 

Wilmer L. Schiffer

January 13, 1923 ~ August 22, 1988

At Memorial Hospital, St. Mary’s on Monday, August 22, 1988, Wilmer Lamont Schiffer of 1247 Huron St., London and formerly of Thorndale, in his 66th year. Beloved wife of Lottie Schiffer and dear father of John of Byron, Robert of London, Mary (Mrs. Philip McCormack) of Ballymote, Karl of London and Karen of Petrolia. Brother of John, Clair, Willard and Lynne, all of Pennsylvania and Glen of Connecticut. Also surviving  are six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one son Kurt (1975). Friends may call at the Harland B. Betzner Funeral Home, 177 Dundas St., Thamesford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 2 p.m. Pastor Roston Hargreaves officiating. Interment Robin Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Ontario Heart Foundation would be appreciated. London Free Press, Aug. 24, 1988. 

 

John D. Schiffer

June 21, 1946 ~ April 10, 2002

After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, suddenly at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, John Dale Schiffer, of London, in his 56th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Gayle (Brown) Schiffer. Loved and proud father of John and his wife Kimberley Schiffer, of London, and Dr. James and his wife Deidre Schiffer, of Austin, Texas. Special and loving Papa of Carter Schiffer. Loved son-in-law of Philip and the late Dorothy Brown (Sept. 2001), of London. Dear brother of Mary and her husband Philip, of Wallaceburg; Robert and his wife Pat, of London; Karl Schiffer and Karen Cooper, both of Wallaceburg. Loved brother-in-law of Robert Brown and his wife Laura, Richard Brown and his partner David Friesen, and Barbara Clark and the late Douglas Brown (1981), all of London. Predeceased by his parents, Wilmer and Patricia Schiffer, and by his youngest brother, Kurt Schiffer (1975). Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Rd. N., where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, 2002 at 9:30 a.m., Rev. David Van Patten officiating. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery. John was Post Master of Myra Lodge 529 (1979), whose members will conduct a Masonic service in his memory on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Kurt A. Schiffer

Suddenly at Thorndale on Friday, October 3, 1975, Kurt A. Schiffer, dearly beloved son of Wilmer and Patricia Schiffer, of R.R.3, Thorndale. Dear brother of John of Komoka, Mary, Robert, Karl and Karen, all at home, in his 15th year. Resting at the Edward J. Jones Funeral Home, 236 King St., Thorndale on Monday, October 6, 1975, from where the funeral service will be. Interment Robin Hill Cemetery. London Free Press, Oct. 4, 1975.

 

Karen P. Schiffer Cooper

June 6, 1962 ~ November 4, 2013

Karen Patricia Wilma Cooper ~ A resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully at home with her friends and family at her side on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the age of 51. Karen is the daughter of the late Wilmer and Patricia (Adams) Schiffer. Loving mother of Sarah Cooper (Ken) and Brandon Cooper. Dear grandmother of Kylie, Ava and Sophie. Sister of Mary McCormack, Karl Schiffer and the late John, Kurt and Mike Schiffer. Sister-in-law of Gayle Schiffer. BFF’s of Tina and Amber Hawkins and B.J. Caughlin. The family received relatives and friends at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. The funeral was celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 6 at 2 p.m. Remembrances of Karen were shared by family members and friends. Cremation followed.
