Lawrence Herbert Adams (1923 ~ 2003)

5.3.6.5. Fifth child of James H. Adams and Gertrude M. Wotten, Lawrence Herbert Adams, was born October 4, 1923, in Burketon, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

He married Jessie Mildred Fraser, daughter of Harry Franklin Fraser and Elizabeth Charlotte Brown, June 29, 1946, in Tyrone, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and had three children:

Lawrence H. Adams died August 10, 2003, aged 79 years, and Jessie M. Fraser Adams died November 17, 1986, aged 63 years in Bowmanville, Ontario, and are interred at Orono Cemetery.

Tyrone. A miscellaneous shower and dance was given in the community hall Friday evening in honour of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Adams (Jessie Fraser) who were married June 29, 1946 at the Tyrone parsonage. Bowmanville Statesman, July 11, 1946.

Lawrence Herbert Adams, age 79 years. At Strathaven Lifecare Centre on Sunday, August 10, 2003. Beloved husband of the late Jessie Mildred Fraser. Dear father of Donald Adams & Linda; Sharon & Joe Reader and Janice McHolm. Cherished grandfather of Jamie, Laurie, Janet, Christine, Melissa, Thatcher and great-grandfather of Steven, Devon, Alyssa, Justin, Johnny, Kasey and Jevon. Dear brother of Marjorie Gray, Jean Fallis, Helen McDonald, Ruth Cowle and the late Dorothy Lethangue and Henry Adams. Interment Orono Cemetery, Tuesday, August 12th. Jessie M. Fraser Adams

June 29, 1923 ~ November 17, 1986

At the age of 63, Jessie Mildred Adams passed away at Peterborough Civic Hospital, Monday, November 17, 1986.

The daughter of Elizabeth and Harry Fraser, she was born at Long Sault, June 29, 1923. She was married on June 29, 1946 to Lawrence (Stout) Adams.

Jessie was the most gentle and devoted mother to Donald, Sharon, Mrs. Joe Reader and Janice McHolm, loving grandmother to four grandchildren, and loving sister of Marion (Mrs. Herman Webb).

Jessie was educated at New Park and Orono schools. Before her marriage she was employed at the Goodyear Tire Company in Bowmanville. Although the last six years were spent living at R.R.1, Fraserville; High Street in Bowmanville had been her home for many years.

While residing in Bowmanville, Jessie was a member of St. Paul’s United Church and the U.C.W. After moving to R.R.1, Fraserville, she became a member of the Bethany Northern Stars Senior Citizen group.

Funeral services were held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. N. E. Schamerhorn officiated.

Pallbearers were Messers. Ken Adams, Murray Adams, Clayton Brown, Earl Penwarden, Howard McRoberts and Harold Murphy.

Interment Orono Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, Dec. 10, 1986.
