5.3.6.8. Eighth child of James H. Adams and Gertrude M. Wotten, Mary Reta 'Ruth' Adams, was born May 14, 1935, in Bowmanville, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  She married Donald Gilbert Cowle, son of Albert Gordon Cowle and Mabel Irene Vanslyke, February 4, 1955, in Bowmanville, Ontario and had four children:

 M. R. Ruth Adams Cowle currently resides in Bowmanville, Ontario, and Donald G. Cowle died April 15, 2022, aged 85 years, in Oshawa, Ontario.

It is with heavy hearts the family of Don Cowle announces he passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, April 15, 2022.
  Don was the beloved husband of Ruth (nee Adams) for 67 years and loving father to Donna (Bill Mairs), Cindy (Steve Millson), Donald (Karen) and Ken (Sharon). He was a loving grandpa/papa to 9 grandchildren - Jenn, Amanda (Warren), Adam (Amanda), Andrew (Shannon), Matt (Jay), Mitch, Dylan, Cassidy (Tyler) and Cody. Don had 8 great grandchildren - Tyler, Brandon (Erin), Travis, Ella, Cole, Ryder, Ava and Jace and 3 great great grandchildren - Hannah, Blake and Jade.
  Don is predeceased by his parents Albert (Gordon) (1974) and Mabel Irene (1981). Don is survived by his sister Joan Cowle and predeceased by his sister Dorothy LeBlanc (2017) and brother Bill Cowle (2000).
  Don loved getting together with his family and friends. He really looked forward to those visits. He will be greatly missed by them all. Don was an avid Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Don enjoyed playing darts, cards, horseshoes and billiards with his friends. Don also enjoyed the cottage life. Don had been an active member of the Legion looking after the membership for many years.
  We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and Oshawa for their great care. We would also like to thank the PSW's and nurses that have come to the house to look after him the past couple of years.
  The family will have a private service and will hold at Celebration of Life at a later date. Donations in Don's memory can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville.

Cindy Lou Ann Cowle  (1957 ~ 2024)

 

5.3.6.8.2. Second child of Ruth Adams and Donald Cowle, Cindy Lou Anne Cowle, was born November 15, 1957, in Bowmanville, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  She married Steven Edward Millson, son of Hiram 'Alfred' Millson and Margaret Helen Nelson, September 11, 1976, in Bowmanville, Ontario and had two children:

  • (5.3.6.8.2.2)  Andrew Steven  (1984 ~ )

 

 Cindy L. Cowle Millson died February 29, 2024, aged 66 years, in Bowmanville, Ontario.

On Saturday, September 11, 1976 in Trinity United Church, Bowmanville, Cindy Lou Ann Cowle became the bride of Steven Edward Millson, officiated by Reverend Peters.

  The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Cowle of Bowmanville, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Millson of R.R.5, Bowmanville.

  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white nylon sheer over taffeta, designed with a high neckline and empire waist. She carried a bouquet of red rosese, white daisies and blue baby's breath.

  The matron of honour was Miss Ursula Bottcher, friend of the bride and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Gary Carter, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Bill Mairs, sister of the bride. The flower girl was a niece of the bride, Miss Jennifer Mairs

  Best man was Mr. Steven Norrish, friend of the groom, and ushers, Mr. Don Cowle, brother of the bride and Mr. Gary Millson, brother of the groom. 

  Following a reception held at the Acres Restuarant, the happy couple left on a honeymoon at Niagara Falls. They are now residing at R.R.5, Bomwanville. Bowmanville Statesman, Dec. 8, 1976.

Cindy Lou Ann Millson

November 15, 1957 - February 29, 2024

 

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Cindy Millson (nee Cowle) on February 29, 2024 in her 67th year after a year long battle with cancer.

  Cindy was the beloved wife to Steve Millson for 48 years, and loving mother to Adam (Amanda) and Andrew (Shannon). She was a doting “Nana” to her 6 grandchildren: Travis, Ella, Cole, Ryder, Ava and Jace. She was the beloved sister to Donna Mairs (Bill), Donald Cowle (Karen) and Ken Cowle (Sharon), and caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Cindy is survived by her mother Ruth Cowle (nee Adams) and predeceased by her father, Donald Cowle

  Cindy was born on November 15, 1957 in Bowmanville. While in high school Cindy started her first job as an employee at McDonalds and continued to work there until she retired in 2022. She also kept herself busy selling Avon to many loyal customers. Cindy was an avid member of the Enniskillen/Tyrone United Church for many years where she was the board secretary. Cindy enjoyed spending her time gardening and watching birds from her beautiful sunroom. She was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leaf fan. Her best times were spent with family and friends and spending time at the cottage where she loved her pontoon boat rides.

  The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Lakeridge Health Cancer Centre and EMS/doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Emergency department who cared for her in her final hours.

  Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division Street North Bowmanville on Thursday March 7th, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street North Bowmanville on Saturday March 9th, 2024 at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at BETHESDA CEMETERY, 5981 Bethesda Rd, Tyrone, ON then a reception will follow at TYRONE COMMUNITY CENTRE, 2716 Concession Rd 7, Tyrone. Memorial donations may be made to Enniskillen/Tyrone United Church and the Canadian Cancer Society.
