Evalena Maude Adams  (1889 ~ 1978)

 

5.3.8. Eighth child of Thomas Adams and Maria Bullied, Evalena Maude Adams, was born September 21, 1889, in New Park, Clarke Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  She married Richard Wesley Winch, son of Simeon Winch and Amarella Macumber, April 9, 1909, in Indian Head, Saskatchewan and had six children:

 

 

  E. Maude Adams Winch died November 30, 1978, aged 89 years and Richard W. Winch died July 10, 1964, aged 81 years in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and are interred at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

E. Maude Adams Winch

Mrs. Evalena Maude Winch of St. Anthony’s Home, Moose Jaw, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 1978, at the age of 89 years. Born in New Park, Clarke Twp., Ontario, in 1889, coming to Indian Head, Saskatchewan, in 1908, she married Richard Winch in 1909. She resided most of her life in Eyebrow, moving to Moose Jaw in 1960. Predeceased by her husband Richard in 1964, two sons, Harold in 1919, Clifford in 1948, one granddaughter and two great-grandsons, three sisters and eight brothers. She is survived by two sons Ernest, Ernfold, Sask., Elmer, Porcupine Plain, Sask., two daughters, Mrs. Lauren (Evelyn) Houseman, Beaverlodge, Alberta and Mrs. Joseph (Irma) Meland, Moose Jaw. One brother, Mr. Zack Adams, Bowmanville, Ontario, eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held in the W. J. Jones and Son Fuenral Chapel on Monday, December 4th at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Lawson Barbour will officiate and interment will take place at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Moose Jaw Times-Herald, Dec. 2, 1978.

 

Richard W. Winch

August 14, 1882 ~ July 10, 1964

Richard W. Winch, 81, of 225 Maple Street East, died in a city hospital Friday, July 10, 1964.

  Born in Wiarton, Ontario, he came west in 1901, taking up residence in the Milestone district, moving to Eyebrow in 1915, where he has since lived. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Pentecostal Assembly church.

  Predeceased by two sons, Harold Russell in 1919, and Clifford in 1948, he is survived by his wife Evelena, two sons, Elmer, of Porcupine Plain, Sask., and Ernest, of Eyebrow, two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Irma) Meland, of Moose Jaw, Mrs. Lauren (Evelyn) Houseman, of Crestwynd, B.C., 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Emmy Mitchell, of New Westminster.

  Funeral service will be in W. J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel Monday. Burial follows in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Moose Jaw Times-Herald, July 13, 1964.
