George Leroy Hunter  (1937 ~ 2009)

 

5.7.2.1.4. Fourth child of Roy C. Hunter and Elizabeth Feairs, George Leroy Hunter, was born December 26, 1937, in Mount Forest, W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario. 

  He married Margaret Mary Batchelor, daughter of John Francis (Jack) Batchelor and Vera Arletta Moore, July 14, 1956, in Cedarville, Proton Twp., Grey Co., Ontario and had four children:

  • (5.7.2.1.4.3)  Janice Margaret  (1962 ~ )

  George L. Hunter McPherson died February 28, 2009, aged 71 years in Orangeville, Ontario.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Feairs attended the wedding of their grandson, George Hunter and Margaret Batchelor at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints on Saturday, July 14, 1956, and the reception at the bride’s home.  The wedding was also attended by Mr. and Mrs. James Ferguson, Mrs. E. Kerr and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Feairs and family. Mount Forest Confederate, July 19, 1956.

George L. Hunter

George Leroy Hunter passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville, at the age of 71.

  Devoted husband of Margaret.

  Dear father of Richard, Bonita, Janice (Rick Stephens) and Murray (Colleen).

 Cherished brother of Lorna McPherson West (Mervin), Marlene Hilliard and Lloyd (Esther).

 Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Krystal and Ryan Tanner, Deborah Hooker, Kailey, Kyle and Brodie Hunter and Callie Stephens, and by great-grandchildren Balin and Durin Vergunst.

 Predeceased by parents Roy and Elizabeth Hunter and brothers-in-law George McPherson and Lloyd Hilliard.

  Friends were received at the Simes Funeral Home, Grand Valley on Tuesday, March 3 form 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

 The funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre at 1 p.m. with Rev. Arlene Leis officiating.

  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Grand Valley Minor Hockey, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or a church of your choice. Mount Forest Confederate, Mar. 4, 2009.

 

John F. Batchelor

August 2, 1906 ~ November 1, 1995

John (Jack) Batchelor in the Centre Grey Hospital, Markdale on Wednesday, November 1, 1995 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Vera Moore, dear father of Lois (Dennis) Leitch of Honeywood, Leone (George) Wight of R.R.2, Flesherton, Jean (Kelvin) Fraser of R.R.2, Dundalk, Margaret (George) Hunter of Grand Valley, Stanley (Jean) Batchelor of R.R.1, Dundalk, Bessie (Ronald) Green of R.R.2, Dundalk and Gail (Lindsay) Clarke of Grand Valley. Will be sadly missed by 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Survived by four brothers, Edward of Chatsworth, Ernie of Collingwood, Bob and Fred, both of Orangeville, two sisters, Gladys Franks of Dundalk and Elva Dunn of Toronto. Predeceased by a brother Wilfred and a sister Ila Farr and a grandson Wayne Fraser. Rested at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home, Dundalk. Service was in the chapel on Friday, November 3, at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints Cemetery, Con. 14, Proton Township. Dundalk Herald, Nov. ?, 1995.

 

Vera A. Moore Batchelor

February 10, 1906 ~ March 16, 1983

Vera Batchelor died on Wednesday, March 16, 1983 in the General and Marine Hospital, Owen Sound.

  Beloved wife of John Batchelor. Dear mother of Lois (Mrs. Dennis Leitch) of Honeywood, Leone (Mrs. George Wight) of R.R.1, Priceville, Jean (Mrs. Calvin Fraser) of R.R.2, Dundalk, Margaret (Mrs. George Hunter) of Grand Valley, Stanley of R.R.1, Dundalk, Bessie (Mrs. Ronald Green) of R.R.2, Dundalk, Gail (Mrs. Lindsay Clarke) of Grand Valley.

  Sadly missed by 28 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Survived by her brother Elvin and one sister Mrs. Beatrice Hodgins both of Dundalk.

  Predeceased by a sister Mrs. Emma Lee.

  Rested at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home, Dundalk.  Service was in the chapel on Saturday, March 19th at 2 p.m.

  Interment in the Latter Day Saints Cemetery, Proton Township. Markdale Standard, Mar. 23, 1983.

 

Samuel Batchelor

April 25, 1875 ~ March 30, 1949

Victoria Corners. Mr. James Batchelor has the sympathy of the community in the death of his brother, Samuel, of Saugeen Jct. on Wednesday, March 30, 1949. Flesherton Advance, Apr. 6, 1949.

 

Edith Campbell Batchelor

July 4, 1886 ~ September 5, 1984

Entered into rest in Centre Grey Hospital, Markdale, on Wednesday, September 5, 1984. Edith Batchelor in her 99th year. The former Edith Campbell. Beloved wife of the late Samuel Batchelor and dear mother of John of Dundalk, Mrs. Ila Farr of Woodbridge, Edward of Guelph, Mrs. Gladys Franks of Dundalk, Mrs. Elva Dunn, Toronto, Robert, Orangeville, Ernest, Collingwood, and Fred of Orangeville.  Will be sadly missed by 32 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

  Predeceased by a son Wilfred and two brothers and two sisters.  The body rested at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home, Dundalk. Service was held in the chapel on Friday, September 7th, at 2:30 p.m. Interment in the Latter Day Saints Cemetery, Conc. 14, Proton Township. Dundalk Herald, Sept. ?, 1984.

 

John G. Batchelor

August 9, 1853 ~ April 3, 1937

John G. Batchelor passed away at Cedar Valley, on Sunday, April 4, 1937, in his 84th year. Born in Yorkshire, England, he came to Canada with his parents, when two years old, and they settled in Brampton; when he was eight years old the family moved to Proton Township, where deceased engaged in farming until six years ago.

  He is survived by his wife, nee Ann Bryce; three sons, Samuel and James, of Proton; John, of Buffalo; seven daughters: Mrs. Harry Sterne, of Brampton; Mrs. T. M. Irvine, of Hawthorn, California; Mrs. W. S. Richardson, Swift Current, Sask.; Mrs. A. Anderson, Moose Jaw, Sask.; Mrs. A. Noakes, of Keirobert, Sask.; Mrs. K. Tarzwell, Hillsburg; Mrs. Mark Dorman, Buffalo.

  He was a Laterday Saint and a Liberal.

 The funeral took palce on Tuesday. Interment in the Laterday Saint Cemetery in Proton Township. Erin Advocate, Apr. 8, 1937.
