Harvey Lloyd Hunter  (1914 ~ 1961)

 

5.7.2.4. Fourth child of Mary Jane Ferguson and James Hunter, Harvey Lloyd Hunter, was born August 10, 1914, in W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario. 

  He married Norma Mae McKee, daughter of Samuel Spence McKee and Esther Mae Jessop, August 31, 1940, in Elora, Nichol Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario and had two children:  

 

  • (5.7.2.4.1)  Gordon Murray Lloyd  (1941 ~ 2008)

  • (5.7.2.4.2)  David Brian  (1948 ~ 1988)

 

  Harvey L. Hunter died May 30, 1961, aged 46 years, in Mount Forest, Ontario, and Norma M. McKee Hunter died December 10, 1997, aged 85 years in Toronto, Ontario are interred at Mount Forest Cemetery.

Harvey L. Hunter

Following a lengthy illness, Harvey Lloyd Hunter passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 1961, at Louise Marshall Hospital in his 47th year. Although in poor health for some time his passing came as a shock to the community.

  Born in West Luther Township on August 10, 1914, he was a son of the late James Hunter and his wife, the former Jane Ferguson. On August 31, 1940 he was married to Norma Mae McKee of Harriston. Residing in Guelph and later Galt, Mr. Hunter came to Conn in 1944 where he operated a trucking business until the time of his death.

  He is survived by his wife and two sons, Gordon and Brian, both at home; three brothers, Roy, Grand Valley; Elmer, Mount Forest; Albert, Monck; and one sister, Viola, Mrs. Earl Bilton, Mount Forest. She was predeceased by his parents, and one sister, Edith.

  The funeral which was largely attended was held from the Gardiner Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 1, and was conducted by the Rev. A. G. Hewitt of Conn United Church.  Interment was in Mount Forest Cemetery.

 The pallbearers were neighbors, Leeson Graham, Vernon Graham, William Smart, Kenneth Morrison, Arthur Coutts and William Moore.

  The beautiful floral tributes showed the high esteem in which Mr. Hunter was held. They were carried by Addison Gear, Harry Arnott, Melville Ferguson, Eldon Ferguson, Wayne Ferguson, Stephen Moore, George Duncan, Vernon Smith, Donald Watson and Orwell Duncan.

  Friends and relatives attending from a distance were from Toronto, Guelph, Oshawa, Schomberg, Bolton, Fergus, Hamilton, Harriston, Heathcote and the surrounding district. Mount Forest Confederate, June 15, 1961.

 

Norma M. McKee Hunter

July 5, 1912 ~ December 10, 1997

Peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at the Rotary Laughlin Centre, Norma Hunter in her 86th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Harvey Lloyd Hunter and her son Brian David Hunter. Norma will be dearly missed by her son Gordon. Friends may call at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley) on Thursday from 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service will he held in the Coach House Chapel of the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. Intement Mount Forest Cemetery. Gordon M. Hunter

October 14, 1941 ~ April 29, 2008

Peacefully at his home on April 29, 2008 in his 67th year. Gordon, predeceased by his parents Norma Mae and Harvey and his brother Brian. Sadly missed by his friends Charles Blaquiere and Michael Cottrell. A private cremation was held with interment of his ashes with his parents in Mount Forest Cemetery. Toronto Star, May 5, 2008.

 

Brian D. Hunter

June 10, 1948 ~ April 5, 1988

Suddenly at Etobicoke General Hospital, Tuesday, April 5, 1988, Brian Hunter, beloved husband of Marilyn. Loving son of Norma and the late Harvey Hunter. Dear brother of Gordon. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, from 5-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral service 10 o’clock Friday morning. Interment Mount Forest Cemetery.
