George Henry Ferguson (1890 ~ 1984)
5.7.6. Sixth child of Sarah Adams and Samuel Ferguson, George Henry Ferguson, was born October 13, 1890, W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario.
He married Martha May Harbottle, daughter of George Harbottle and Mary Jane Ellis, June 27, 1917, W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario and had two children:

George H. Ferguson died November 4, 1984, aged 94 years and M. May Harbottle Ferguson died October 28, 1946, aged 54 years in Mount Forest, Ontario, and are interred at Greenfield Cemetery, in Arthur, Ontario.

George H. Ferguson
George Henry Ferguson passed away at Louise Marshall Hospital on November 4, 1984 in his 95th year.
He was the son of the late Samuel Ferguson and Sarah Adams and the beloved husband of Martha May Harbottle, dear father of Robert of West Luther Township and Mel of Mount Forest.
Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by five brothers and four sisters, David, Mary Jane, Talbert, Robert, Margaret, Lily, Leonard, Erwin and Ida.
He farmed the Ferguson homestead at Lot 2, Con. 13 of West Luther Township and retired to Mount Forest in 1962. He enjoyed his time at the Young at Heart Club playing shuffleboard, crokinole, euchre, horseshoe pitching, singing and step dancing, and he also played a little harmonica.
He rested at the Hendrick Funeral Home where a private family service was held November 7 at 2 p.m. Mr. Stuart Jackson of Conn United Church officiated.
Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery in Arthur, Ontario. Mount Forest Confederate, Nov. 14, 1984.
M. May Harbottle Ferguson
May 28, 1892 ~ October 28, 1946
The death took place suddenly at her home in West Luther Township, on Monday, October 28, 1946, from a heart attack, of Mrs. George H. Ferguson in her 55th year. Highly respected by all who knew her and apparently enjoying the best of health, her sudden death was a great shock to her family and a large circle of friends.
Martha May Harbottle was born in West Luther Township in 1892. She was the only daughter of Mr. George Harbottle, Arthur, and the late Mrs. Harbottle, and was married in 1917 to Mr. George Ferguson. She was a member of Westcott United Church and took an active part in the Ladies’ Aid and W.M.S. Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her husband, also her father living in Arthur, two sons, Robert at home and Melville on a farm close by, one grandson and one brother Albert on the old homestead.
The funeral was held on Thursday, October 31, from her late residence to Westcott United Church, Conn. Rev. Mr. Hayes conducted the service. Mrs. Leonard Bishop and Mrs. Nelson Moore beautifully rendered Asleep in Jesus.
Interment was made in Greenfield Cemetery, Arthur. The pallbearers were a brother, Albert Harbottle, and five brothers-in-law, Talbert, Leonard and Erwin Ferguson, John D. Smith and Fred Gear.
The flowerbearers were eight nephews, Donald, Eldon and Louis Ferguson, Harvey, Roy and Bert Hunter, Addison Gear and Cecil Smith.
Relatives and friends were present from Oshawa, Guelph, Drayton, Elora, Ennotville, Arthur and Mount Forest.
Many beautiful floral tributes evidenced the esteem in which the late Mrs. Ferguson was held. Mount Forest Confederate, Nov. 7, 1946.
George Harbottle
May 26, 1862 ~ January 6, 1952
Mr. George Harbottle died at his home in Mount Forest on January 6, 1952 after an illness of a few months. He was in his 91st year.
Mr. Harbottle was born in Pilkington Tp. and spent most of his life in the Townships of West Garafraxa and West Luther. He retired to Arthur in 1917 and came to Mount Forest four years ago.
He was married in December, 1887, to Mary Jane Ellis who predeceased him on November 27, 1937.
He is survived by one son, Albert, of Arthur, two brothers and two sisters. One daughter [May] predeceased him.
The funeral took place on January 8 to Greenfield cemetery, Arthur. Mount Forest Confederate, Jan. 17, 1952.
Mary Jane Ellis Harbottle
March 12, 1868 ~ November 27, 1937
Arthur Enterprise. A much esteemed resident of this town in the person of Mrs. George Harbottle passed away at her home here on Saturday morning, November 27, 1937, in her 70th year. Though her health had been failing for some three or four years past, she had been her own bright self and had even been better this last while, when on Wednesday morning she was suddenly stricken with paralysis and never regained consciousness.
The funeral which was very largely attended took place on Monday afternoon from St. Andrew's Church, Arthur, of which the deceased was a member, to Greenfield Cemetery. The pastor, Rev. J. R. Waldie, M.A., B.D., officiated at the services. Those who acted as pallbearers were Messrs. Albert Church, Joseph Church, William Noble, Robert Cruick-shank, Thomas Hayes and Wesley McLelland.
She was the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ellis and was born in Garafraxa nearly seventy years ago. On December 21, 1886, she was married to George Harbottle and most of her life was spent on the farm in Luther now occupied by her son, Albert. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church, Gordonville, and later of St. Andrew's Church, Arthur.
She leaves to mourn her loss her sorrowing husband, one daughter (May) Mrs. George Ferguson, of Conn, one son, Albert, Monck, one granddaughter, Dorothy Harbottle and two grandsons, Robert and Melville Ferguson; also one brother, William Ellis, of Garafraxa. Mount Forest Confederate, Dec. 9, 1937.
John Harbottle
April 10, 1833 ~ February 12, 1901
Mr. John Harbottle, who died at his home Lot 27, Con. 3, West Garafraxa, near Metz, on Tuesday, February 12, 1901, at the age of 68 years and 10 months, after a lingering illness, was an old resident of West Garafraxa, having lived for over 27 years on the farm on which his death occurred. He was a native of Northumberland, England, and came to Canada when twelve years old, along with his father’s family settling in Pilkington. In 1857 he married Miss Annie Coxhead and settled on a farm in Pilkington, afterwards removing to the farm in Garafraxa. A widow and family of three boys and six girls survive him. They are: Mrs. A. Newman, Fergus; Mrs. George Kerr, Mrs. Bert Hammill, Garafraxa; Miss Harbottle, Toronto, and Misses Bella and Edith at home; Messrs. George and John in Luther, and William on the homestead. To all of these the sympathy of the community is extended in their hour of bereavement. The funeral takes place this (Thursday) afternoon to Belsyde Cemetery. Fergus Canadian, Feb. 14, 1901.
