The Mount Forest United Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday, July 6, 1957, when Rev. R. G. Hazlewood officiated at the marriage of Thelma Jean Weber, daughter of Mrs. Gladys Morrison, Toronto, and Harold Ferguson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Ferguson, Mount Forest.

Bouquets of assorted ‘mums formed the setting for the ceremony and the guest pews were marked with satin bows and baby ‘mums.  The wedding music was played by Mrs. Wesley Barker and Mrs. Lawrence Corley and Mrs. Walter Bell sang “The Wedding Prayer” and “O Perfect Love.”

The bride, given in marriage by her brother, William Morrison of Galt, wore a strapless gown of nylon net over taffeta with pleated net bodice, the skirt featuring a bustle back of alternating ruffles of net and lace. The matching bolero was of lace with lily-point sleeves and her headpiece was a coronet of pearls from which fell a finger-tip veil. The bridal bouquet was of red sweetheart roses.

The bride’s sister, Mrs. Eddie Keenan of Hamilton, was maid of honor. She wore pink crystalette with matching headdress and carried pink carnations. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Joe Feehan and Mrs. Melvin Robinson, sisters of the bride, both of Hamilton, wore blue and yellow crystalette gowns with matching headdresses and carried bouquets of blue and yellow carnations.

The bride’s niece, Debra Feehan, was flower girl. She wore a mauve dress and matching headdress and carried an umbrella of assorted flowers. Master Bryan Dickson, nephew of the goom, was the page.

Mr. Grant King, Mount Forest, was groomsman and the ushers were Wayne and Barry Ferguson of Cedarville, nephews of the groom.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Mount Royal Hotel where the bride’s mother received her guests in a dress of blue lace over taffeta with white and navy accessories and corsage of pink roses. The groom’s mother wore blue and white Dacron with pink and black accessories and corsage of white carnations. The dining-room was decorated with pink and white streamers and the bride’s table was centred with a three-storey wedding cake and pink roses.

Later in the evening about 175 guests attended a dance in Carnagie Hall. Lunch was served by a group of ladies from the Mount Forest United Church.

For traveling the bride donned a figured blue dress with beige and pink accessories and corsage of red roses. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson will reside in Mount Forest.

Guests were present from California, Flesherton, Toronto, Collingwood, Hamilton, Galt, Conn, Holstein and Mount Forest. Mount Forest Confederate, July 18, 1957.
