----- MARRIAGE -----
Adams—Ellis
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ellis was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday, October 27, 1943, when their daughter Marguerite Elizabeth was united in marriage to Alvin Herbert Adams, only son of Mr. and Mrs. William Adams, Proton Township. Rev. Gordon Harris, Conn, performed the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, entered the parlor to the strains of the bridal chorus played by Miss Mary Gillies, and took her place under an arch of evergreens and white bells. The living room and parlor were decorated with pink and white streamers and white bells. The bride looked lovely in a floor-length gown of white sheer and lace over satin, and a shoulder length veil. She carried a bouquet of red carnations. Her sister, Miss Ina Ellis, was bridesmaid, and wore a floor length gown of shell pink sheer over taffeta with head dress of pink rosebuds. The groomsman was Mr. Clarence Morrison, cousin of the groom. The bride’s mother wore moss green crepe with pink corsage. The groom’s mother wore blue crepe with corsage of pink rosebuds. The groom’s gift to the bride was a set of silver; to the bridesmaid, a sterling silver locket; to the groomsman, a sterling silver ring; to the pianist, a pendant chain.
A fowl supper was served to about twenty-five guests, immediate relatives of the families. The table was decorated with pink candles and flowers and centred with a three-storey wedding cake. The waitresses were four cousins of the bride and groom, Misses Betty Gillies, Mamie Keith, Mona Morrison and Mrs. John McMillan.
The bride’s traveling dress was a turquoise blue crepe suit with wine coat, hat and matching purse and gloves. The happy young couple traveled to Toronto, St. Thomas, Scotland, Ont., and other points.
The following Friday evening a reception was held in Conn Hall, number about three hundred guests, when they received many useful and costly presents. They will reside on the sixth of Proton. Mount Forest Confederate, Nov. 11, 1943.
