John Calvin Adams  (1925 ~ 2000)

 

5.8.4.1. First child of George T. Adams and Florence A. Johnson, John Calvin Adams, was born July 16, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.

  He married Cora Mildred Lovell, daughter of Henry Arthur Lovell and Violet Wilson, December 29, 1949, Mount Forest, Ontario and had two children:

  • (5.8.4.1.2)  Judith Dianne  (1957 ~ )

 

  John C. Adams died November 20, 2000, aged 75 years in Ottawa, Ontario, and is interred at Mount Forest, Ontario.

John C. Adams

At his residence on November 20, 2000, John Calvin Adams, at the age of 75 years. Dear father of Robert (Kathy) Adams and Judy. Loving grandfather to Tanya, Ryan and Robyn. Also survived by his brother Gordon Adams. Our heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and support staff of the Ottawa Rideau wing of the RVHC, and the 7th floor and CCU of the Ottawa General Hospital for all their loving care and kindess given to our father.  Forever grateful to our family and friends for all their kind deeds and support. In accordance with our father’s wishes, a service in memory and interment of cremated remains will be held in Mount Forest, Ontario in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre (1750 Russell Rd., Ottawa) would be appreciated. Ottawa Citizen, Nov. 23, 2000.

Henry A. Lovell

June 13, 1898 ~ April 3, 1979

Henry (Harry) Lovell of Mount Forest died at the Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest, on Tuesday, April 3, 1979. He was 80 years of age.

  He is survived by his wife, the former Violet Wilson, one son, Donald H. of Niagara Falls and four daughters, Norma (Mrs. Lloyd Mosher) of Ottawa, Cora (Mrs. Ralph Jamieson) of Carleton Place, Helen (Mrs. Gordon Ritchie) of Oshawa, and Bonnie (Mrs. James Lamont) of Mount Forest.

  Also surviving are two brothers: Milford of Erin and Leslie of Scarborough, one sister, Pearl (Mrs. Rev. Jack Fullard) of London, and 13 grandchildren.

  Mr. Lovell was a tool maker by trade but was best known in recent years as an inventor of many curious and useful items.  Among them was a steam powered boat which was displayed at numerous shows. He built two steam powered outboard motors as well.

  The funeral and committal services were held from the Hendrick Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Allan McDowell officiating. Interment was in Mount Forest Cemetery Mount Forest Confederate, Apr. 18, 1979.

 

Violet Wilson Lovell

March 8, 1900 ~ May 10, 1993

It is with great sadness that the family of Violet Lovell announces her death, at Louise Marshall Hospital on May 10, 1993. She was in her 94th year.

  She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Lovell and dear mother of Norma and her husband Lloyd Mosher of Peterborough, Don and his wife Barbara Lovell of Durham, Cora and her husband Ralph Jamieson of Carleton Place, Helen of Oshawa and her late husband Gordon Ritchie and Bonnie and her late husband James Lamont.

  She was the dear grandmother of 13 grandchildren, great-grandmother of eight.

  She was the siter of James M. Wilson and wife Willa of Port Carling and the late Rebecca McNeil and June Groves.

  Mrs. Lovell resided in Mount Forest for 72 years and will be sadly missed by her many dear friends and neighbours.

  Friends called at the Hendrick Funeral Home on Tuesday and a funeral service will be held today, May 12, at 2 p.m.

Arthur Lovell

April 29, 1874 ~ December 17, 1954

At Dufferin Area Hospital, Orangeville, Ont. on Friday, December 17, 1954, Arthur Lovell, beloved husband of Rose Madill, and dear father of Harry, Milfred, Pearl (Mrs. J. Fullard) and Leslie, in his 81st year. Resting at the Dods and Caven funeral home, Alton, Ont., where service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Alton Cemetery. Toronto Star, Dec. 18, 1954.

 

Rowena J. Madill Lovell

March 1, 1876 ~ June 2, 1962

At Toronto, Ontario on Saturday, June 2, 1962, Rowena Jane Madill, wife of the late Arthur Lovell and dear mother of Harry, Mount Forest; Milfred, Erin; Mrs. John Fullard (Pearl), Detroit, Mich., and Leslie of Toronto, in her 88th year.

  Rested at the Dods Funeral Home, First St. and Second Ave., Orangeville. Service was held in the chapel on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Alton Cemetery. Orangeville Banner, June 7, 1962.

 

John Lovell

August 9, 1841 ~ November 2, 1929

One of the oldest citizens of Alton village passed away this week [November 2, 1929] in the person of John Lovell. Death followed a short illness. Deceased was a native of England and came to Canada and settled in Alton 43 years ago. He was at one time one of the village commissioners, a Conservative in politics and a member of the Congregational Church. He was also connected with the sons of England. His wife predeceased him several years ago and he is survived by four sons, John and Arthur, Alton; Robert, Guelph; and Leonard, Hamilton; also one daughter, Mrs. Annie McClellan, Detroit. Annie Pickering Lovell

August 30, 1843 ~ July 18, 1910

Mrs. Annie Lovell, wife of Mr. John Lovell, Sr., a well known resident of Alton, passed away at her home in that village on Monday, July 18, 1910, in her 67th year. The deceased lady had been in indifferent health for some months, but was only bedfast a little over a week prior to her death. Mrs. Lovell was born in Cranswick, Yorkshire, England, and came to Alton with her husband and family about twenty-two years ago. Besides her husband, who feels keenly the loss of his trusted and well loved partner, a family of four sons and a daughter survive. These are: Robert Lovell, of Credit Forks; Mrs. Albert McClellan, of Winnipeg, and J. A., Leonard and Arthur Lovell, of Alton. The late Mrs. Lovell was a staunch member of the Congregational Church. She was a woman who was both loved and respected and her demise will be sincerely mourned. The funeral was held from her late home to Alton Cemetery yesterday afternoon. Rev.
