Betty Isobel Adams  (1934 ~ 2013)

 

5.8.8.2. Second child of Edwin L. Adams and Florence M. McLeod, Betty Isobel Adams, was born July 13, 1934, in W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario. 

  She married Peter Ryan Moorhead, son of Gordon Chambers Moorhead and Verbena Blanche Ryan, May 19, 1956, Kitchener, Ontario and had one child:

  Betty I. Adams Moorhead died November 23, 2013, aged 79 years, and Peter R. Moorhead died August 22, 2013, aged 79 years in St. Thomas, Ontario.

Pink and white 'mums made a pretty setting in the chapel of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Saturday, for the wedding of Betty Isobel Adams, 84 Frederick St., and Mr. Peter Ryan Moorhead, 1440 King St. East.

  The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Adams, Conn, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon C. Moorhead, Palmerston.

  Rev. Dr. Finlay G. Stewart officiated. The bride wore a charcoal gray suit, with black patent leather shoes and bag, and white accessories. At the shoulder she wore a pale mauve orchid.

  Mrs. Harvel Allen, Hanover, attended the bride. She wore a beige suit with matching accessories and a corsage of red roses and white feathered 'mums. Mr. William Moorhead, Palmerston, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.

  The reception was held at the Pines Inn, Bridgeport. The bride's mother was in a dress of silk brocade worsted in brown and pink, with matching accessories. Pink roses and white feathered 'mums made her corsage.

  The bridegroom's mother was in blue figured silk frock with blue duster. Her accessories were white and her corsage was pink roses and white feathered 'mums.

  Following a trip to New York City, the couple will live at 1440 King St. East. Kitchener-Waterloo Record, May 24, 1956.

Betty I. Adams Moorhead

Betty Isobel (Adams) Moorhead of the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas passed away at her late residence on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Peter Moorhead (2013) and loving mother of Philip Moorhead of Waterloo. Dear sister of Robert “Bob” Adams of Mount Forest and she was predeceased by her sister Marion Cherry. Sadly missed by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was born July 13, 1934 in West Luther Twp., Wellington County, the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence (McLeod) Adams. Betty was a retired medical secretary. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church in St. Thomas. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas. Cremation has taken place, private interment of ashes in Mount Forest Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or St. John’s Anglican Church. Peter R. Moorhead

July 18, 1934 ~ August 22, 2013

Peter Ryan Moorhead of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 80th year. Dearly loved husband of Betty (Adams) Moorhead. Loved mother of Philip Moorhead of Waterloo. Dear brother of Eleanor Reeves (Roger), Gordena “Betty” Holloway (late Jim) and the late William Moorhead. Special friend of Toni Jans. Sadly missed by a number of cousins and nieces and nephews, Peter was born in Palmerston on July 18, 1934, the son of the late Gordon and Verbena (Ryan) Moorhead. He was retired from C.N. Railroad. Peter was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church and Talbot Lodge # 546 A.F. and A.M. A public Memorial service will be held at Williams Funeral Home , 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation, with private interment in Mount Forest Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Elgin or to St. John's Anglican Church. St. Thomas Times-Journal, Aug. 23, 2013.

Philip R. Moorhead

February 26, 1960 ~ June 29, 2017

Of St. Thomas and formerly of Waterloo, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the age of 57 years. Beloved son of the late Peter Ryan Moorhead (August 22, 2013) and Betty Isobel (Adams) Moorhead (November 23, 2013). Dear nephew of Robert "Bob" Adams, Eleanor Reeves (Roger), and Betty Holloway (late Jim) and the late William Moorhead and the late Marion (Adams) Cherry (late Gordon). Lovingly remembered by several cousins and friends. Philip was born in Guelph on February 26th, 1960. He worked for BlackBerry in Waterloo for a number of years. Philip was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, St. Thomas. A Memorial Service to celebrate Philip's life will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, St. Thomas on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes in Mount Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Church or to the Alzheimer Society of Elgin. St. Thomas Times-Journal, July 4, 2017.

      

Gordon C. Moorhead

July 12, 1893 ~ December 20, 1961

Gordon Chambers Moorhead, a well-known retired Canadian National Railways engineer, passed away in the Palmerston Hospital on Wednesday, December 20, 1961. He was in his 70th year. 

  Born in Palmerston July 12, 1892 he lived there all his life. He was married in Mount Forest in 1930 to the former Verbena Ryan of Durham. He was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blair Masonic Lodge, Palmerston, Palmerston Royal Canadian Legion and the Brotherhood of Railway and Locomotive Engineers.

  Surviving besides his wife are two sons, William of Guelph; and Peter for Kitchener; and two daughters, Elinor, Mrs. Rogers of Halifax; and Betty, Mrs. Halloway of London; one brother, Thomas, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Dalton and Betha, Mrs. W. Newmarch, both of Toronto; and Verna, Mrs. H. French of Victoria.  There are four grandchildren.

  The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the Miller Funeral Home, Palmerston, and was in charge of the Rev. Peter Smith of St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Interment was in Palmerston Cemetery. Mount Forest Confederate, Dec. 28, 1961.

 

Verbena B. Ryan Moorhead

April 8, 1906 ~ February 27, 1970

PALMERSTON-Mrs. Gordon Moorhead of Palmerston died at hospital here after a brief illness. She was 64.

  The former Verbena Blanche Ryan, she was born April 8, 1905 in Durham, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Ryan. She came to Palmerston in 1931. She was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Palmerston.

  Her husband predeceased in 1961. Surviving are two sons, William of Guelph, and Peter of Waterloo; two daughter, Mrs. Roger (Eleanor) Reeves of St. Thomas and Mrs. James (Gordena) Holloway of London, Ont.; one brother, Harry Ryan, Durham, and five grandchildren.

  The body is at the K. M. Henderson Funeral Home where Rev. Thomas Lewis of St. Paul's Anglican Church will conduct the service Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Palmerston Cemetery. Kitchener-Waterloo Record, Feb. 28, 1970.
