----- MARRIAGE -----

AdamsBridle

Baskets of roses and white gladioli, tall standards of ferns and candelabras formed the setting in Mount Forest United Church on Saturday, September 23, 1961, for the marriage of Carol Ann Bridle and Robert Edwin Adams. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bridle and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Adams, all of Mount Forest.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a gown of gardenia white peau de faille. Natural Alencon lace edged the Sabrina neckline and formed an apron effect on the skirt which fell straight in front and draped to a bustle back ending in a chapel train. A matching bow held her veil of tulle illusion and she carried a cascade of white roses and stephanotis.

Mrs. George Tanner of Kitchener was her sister’s matron of honor wearing a street-length model of forest green peau de soie.  The bell-shaped skirt was draped to the back with a self bow at the waistline. The bridesmaids were Miss Joan Robinson of Toronto and Mrs. Stanley Dungey of Smithville. They wore gowns of willow green peau de soie similar to that of the matron of honor.  All wore matching bows in their hair and carried white carnations and lily of the valley.

Miss Debbie Clancey of Brampton, niece of the bride, was flower girl and wore a short white dress with green satin sash.  Wayne Cherry, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Mr. Bernard Shaughnessy was groomsman and the ushers were Messrs. Dennis Bridle, brother of the bride, and Douglas Coutts of Conn, cousin of the groom.

For traveling the bride donned a gold stroller suit with brown accessories.

Prior to her marriage Miss Bridle was entertained at several events in her honor. Mrs. Stanley Dungey and Mrs. Edmund Ovens held a miscellaneous shower at the latter’s home; Mrs. Howard Robinson and Joan were hostesses at a Kitchen shower and Mrs. Bert Thompson and Miss Edith Songer of Brampton held a miscellaneous shower at the former’s home.

Mrs. Edwin Adams entertained the bridal party after the rehearsal Friday evening. Mount Forest Confederate, Sept. 28, 1961.
