Florence Evelyn Adams (1905 ~ 1968)
5.8.9. Ninth child of James Adams and Dinah Isabella Perry, Florence Evelyn Adams, was born September 1, 1905, in W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario.
She married James Alexander Graham, son of James Alexander Graham and Margaret Clelland, April 8, 1925, W. Luther Twp., Ontario and had five children:

Florence E. Adams Graham died June 17, 1968, aged 62 years in Mount Forest, Ontario and J. Alexander Graham died September 2, 1989, in Orangeville, Ontario and are interred at Mount Forest Cemetery.

On Wednesday [April 8, 1925] afternoon of last week a pretty wedding took place when two of our young people, Miss Florence Adams and Mr. Alex Graham were joined in holy wedlock by Rev. Mr. Walker. In the evening a reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. James Adams the bride being the recipient of many useful and beautiful gifts. The bride and groom have the best wishes of their many friends hereabouts for a long and happy future. Mount Forest Confederate, Apr. 16, 1925.

40th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Graham, Conn, entertained their family of thirty-one members at Easter dinner in their home. Owing to illness in the family they were unable to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on April 8 as planned by their family but at this gathering they surprised their parents by presenting them with corsages and a three-storey anniversary cake, made by their eldest daughter, Mrs. Norris Bruce of Monticello.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham, although they sold their farm in West Luther to a neighbor two years ago, still reside in the house. Their family, Verna, Mrs. Norris Bruce, Mr. Bruce and family, Monticello; Norma, Mrs. Carson Rae, Mr. Rae and family, Georgetown; Elda, Mrs. Stuart Stockdale, Mr. Stockdale and family, Peterborough and Elaine, Mrs. Joe Robinson, Mr. Robinson and family, Monck, were all present for the event. Florence E. Adams Graham
The entire community was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Mrs. Alex Graham, which occurred at her home on Egremont Street on Monday, June 17, 1968.
The former Florence Evelyn Adams, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Adams, she was born on Lot 1, Conc. 12, West Luther Township on September 1, 1905. On April 8, 1925, she was married to Alex Graham, also of West Luther Township. She lived her entire life in the Conn vicinity except for one year when they lived in Detroit. Just three months ago Mr. and Mrs. Graham moved to their new home in Mount Forest.
She was a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Conn, an ardent worker in the Ladies’ Aid and a Life Member of the W. M. S. She wa also a member of the Women’s Institute. The many floral tributes and the large number who paid their respects testified to the high esteem in which she was held.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Graham leaves four daughters, Verna, Mrs. Norris Bruce of Grand Valley; Norma, Mrs. Carson Rae, Georgetown; Elda, Mrs. Stuart Stockdale, Peterborough; and Elaine, Mrs. Joseph Robinson, R.R.1 Conn. Three brothers, George, Stanley and Edwin Adams, all of Mount Forest; and two sisters, Cassie, Mrs. Andrew Morrison, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Guelph; and Gertie, Mrs. Stanley Herriot of Baker’s Nursing Home, Mount Forest, also survive. There are twenty one grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by one son, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.
The funeral service was held at the Gardiner Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 19, and was conducted by her minister, the Rev. F. A. Pickering. Interment was in Mount Forest Cemetery.
The pallbearers were nephews, Alvin, Clifford and Gordon Adams, Perry Samuel, Clarence Morrison and Vernon Graham. The flowers were carried by grandchildren.
Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Niagara Falls, N.Y., Galt, Kitchener, Georgetown, Brampton, Bowmanville, Hampton, Orono, Palmerston, London, Toronto and other districts. Mount Forest Confederate, June 20, 1968.
J. Alexander Graham
February 16, 1901 ~ September 2, 1989
After a brief illness, Alex Graham died September 2, 1989 in Dufferin Area Hospital, Orangeville. He was in his 89th year.
He was born in West Luther Township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Graham. In 1925 he married the late Florence Adams, spending most of his life in West Luther. In March 1968 they moved to Mount Forest, where Florence died in June, 1968. In 1971 he married the late Mildred Ferguson and she died in 1978. He moved to White Bluff Apartments in 1979 where he lived until his illness.
He was a life long member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Conn.
He is survived by four daughters, Verna Bruce, Orangeville; Norma Rae, Georgetown; Elda Stockdale, Peterborough; and Elaine Robinson, Monck. Also 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren survive.
He was predeceased by one son, Elwyn in infancy, four sisters and two brothers and one granddaughter.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, September 5, 1989 from Hendrick Funeral Chapel. Interment in Mount Forest Cemetery.
The pallbearers were four grandsons: Ross Bruce, Kitchener, Glen Rae, Brampton, Ralph Stockdale, Peterborough and Jim Robinson, Conn and two nephews, Allan Samuel, Mount Forest and Vernon Graham, Conn. Mount Forest Confederate, Sept. 20, 1989.
James A. Graham
July 17, 1864 ~ April 10, 1939
The death of James A. Graham took place in General Hospital, Toronto, on Monday morning, April 10, 1939, after being in poor health for the past three years.
Deceased was born in Rothsay 74 years ago, and when nine years of age moved with his parents to a farm on the Arthur townline. Later, with his wife, Margaret Cleland of Carsonville, he moved to Lot 3, Con. 13, West Luther, where he resided until he retired ten years ago and moved to Mount Forest. He was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Orange Order.
His wife predeceased him on April 10, 1928. He leaves to mourn his loss four daughters and two sons, Isabella at home, Irene of Buffalo, Nora of Lockport, N.Y., Dora (Mrs. Wes Gibson), Alex and George, all of West Luther; also nine grandchildren.
One daughter, Lydia, died at the age of two years and one son, John, was killed in the Great War, in April 1916, at the age of 21 years; also one brother George predeceased him nine years ago, and word was received Thursday, April 13, that his older brother William of Long Branch, California, had passed away on Tuesday, April 11, due to a heart attack.
The funeral took place from his late residence, Egremont Street, Mount Forest, to St. Andrew's Church, on Wednesday, April 12th at 2 o'clock and to Greenfield Cemetery, Arthur. The pall bearers were Messrs. Donald Flett, Andrew Seim, William Gillespie, John L. Smith, Robert Russell and James L. Bradshaw. Flower bearers were four grandchildren, Verna, Norma and Vernon Graham and Gordon Gibson. Mount Forest Confederate, Apr. 20, 1939.
Margaret Cleland Graham
May 10, 1869 ~ April 10, 1928
The death of Margaret Cleland, wife of James A. Graham, took lace at her home on Con. 13 of West Luther on Tuesday, April 10, 1928. Deceased had been in failing health for some time and quietly passed away on Tuesday evening.
Deceased was born in Carsonville, Mich., 58 years ago. After her marriage she came with her husband to her home in West Luther, where she resided until her death.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, four daughters and two sons, Isabella, Irene, Dora, Nora, Alexander and George, also two brothers of Carsonville. One daughter, Lydia, died at the age of 2 years, and a son, John, was killed in the Great War, 1914-1918, at the age of 21 years.
The funeral took place from her late home on Friday, April 13, at 12 o'clock to the Arthur Cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. George Perry, Robert Russell, James Bradshaw, John Smith, James Herriot and Andrew Agar. Mount Forest Confederate, Apr. 19, 1928.
