Elda Irene Graham  (1932 ~ 1995)

 

5.8.9.3. Third child of Florence E. Adams and J. Alexander Graham, Elda Irene Graham, was born April 27, 1932, in Conn, W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario.

  She married Stuart Ralph Stockdale, son of William John Stockdale and Emma Jane Harrison, July 3, 1950, Conn, W. Luther Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario and had five children:

  Elda I. Graham Stockdale died February 26, 1995, aged 62 years and Stuart R. Stockdale died December 11, 2013, aged 86 years in Peterborough, Ontario, and are interred at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.

Elda I. Graham Stockdale

At Civic Hospital on Sunday February 26, 1995, Mrs. Elda Irene Stockdale (Volunteer With Salvation Army Services) of R.R.2, Peterborough in her 63rd year. Loving wife of Stuart Stockdale. Dear mother of Linda Quackenbush and her husband Robert of Peterborough, Barbara Hogg and her husband Rbert of Gore’s Landing, Ralph Stockdale and his wife Debra of R.R.9, Peterborough, Brenda Coit of Peterborough and the late Janice.  Grandmother of Stephen, Michael, Michelle, Joshua, Justine, Jonathon, Katie, Jordan and Edward. Sister of Verna Bruce of Orangeville, Norma Rae and her husband Carson of Georgetown, and Elaine Robinson of Conn, Ont. Daughter of the late Alexander Graham and Florence Adams. Stuart R. Stockdale

July 2, 1927 ~ December 11, 2013

Peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, with his family by his side. Stuart Ralph Stockdale of Peterborough in his 87th year. Husband of the late Elda (Graham). Dear father of Linda (Bob Quackenbush) of Peterborough, Barbara (Bob Hogg) of Norwood, Ralph Stockdale (Grace) of Peterborough, Brenda Coit of Peterborough and the late Janice Stockdale. Loving grandfather of ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Son of the late William Stockdale and Emma (Harrison). Brother of Sherman Stockdale of Lakefield (late Dorothy) and the late Clarence Stockdale (late Ethel), George Stockdale (late Jean), Leona (late Ellison Kidd) and Eldon Stockdale. Brother-in-law to Lorene Stockdale of Lakehurst. Uncle Stuart will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Community Alternative Funeral Home - Ashburnham Chapel, 840 Armour Road from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday. Janice F. Stockdale

March 5, 1962 ~ August 21, 1963

Seventeen-months-old Janice Stockdale was fatally injured at her R.R.2, Peterborough home Wednesday [August 21, 1963] evening when she chased her pet kitten under her father’s car.

  Janice crawled under the vehicle just as Stuart Stockdale backed the car from the driveway alongside his house in Smith Township.

Mrs. Stockdale, standing near the driveway, did not notice the child scamper from the lawn after the kitten.

  The child was rushed to Civic Hospital by her father, a well driller, and admitted at 5:15 p.m.

  She died at 7 p.m.

  Const. Morris Nimigon investigated.

  Born in Peterborough, Janice Florence Stockdale was the daughter of Stuart Stockdale and the former Elda Graham.

  Surviving besides her parents are sisters Linda, 11, Barbara, 10, and Brenda, 5, and brother Ralph, 8, all at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Stockdale of R.R.1, Lakefield, and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Graham of R.R.1, Conn, Ont.

  The body is at Kaye Funeral Home.

  Service will be held from the Salvation Army Temple at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Brig. Kenneth Graham officiating.

  Burial will be at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. Peterborough Examiner, Aug. 22, 1963.

 

William J. Stockdale

February 14, 1887 ~ April 6, 1970

Lakefield. Funeral for William John Stockdale, 83, of R.R.1, Lakefield, who died at home after a lengthy illness on April 6, 1970, was held Friday from the Hendren funeral home.

  Mr. Stockdale was born and educated in Harvey Township where he lived all his life.

  He attended S.S. No. 4 Harvey township school where he also served as secretary-treasurer for over 25 years. He retired as a farmer five years ago, and was a member of the Lakehurst United Church.

  Son of the late Robert Stockdale and the late and former Elizabeth Fawcett, Mr. Stockdale is survived by his wife, the former Emma Jane Harrison.

   Also surviving are five sons, Clarence and George of Norwood, Sherman of Lakefield, Stuart, of R.R.2, Peterborough, and Eldon at home; one daughter, Mrs. Ellison Kidd (Leona) of R.R.1, Peterborough; one brother, Lorne of Peterborough; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Little (Jane) of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Mrs. Harry Stevenson (Evelyn) of Bobcaygeon.

  Rev. W. B. Day D.D. officiated at the services and burial in Lakehurst cemetery. Peterborough Examiner, Apr. 11, 1970.

 

Emma J. Harrison Stockdale

June 1, 1892 ~ May 23, 1993

Mrs. Emma Jane Stockdale passed away from this life into the presence of Jesus Christ whom she loved. Absent from the body is to be present with the Lord II Cor. 5:8, at Lakefield Private Hospital on Sunday, May 23, 1993. Emma Jane Harrison of Lakehurst in her 101st year. Wife of the late Willie John Stockdale. Dear mother of Clarence of Norwood and his late wife Ethel, Sherman and his wife Dorothy of Lakefield, George and his wife Jean of Norwood, Stuart and his wife Elda of Omemee, Leona Kidd and her husband Ellison of Peterborough, Eldon and his wife Lorene of Lakehurst and the late Gladys. Sister of Bruce, Mytrle, Edna and the late Leslie, Harriett, Stella and Martin. Grandmother of 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren and three deceased grandchildren.  Friends are invited to call at the Hendren Funeral Home, Lakefield on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Service in the chapel on Wednesday, May 26, 1993 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Robert Peebles officiating. Interment Sandy Lake Cemetery, Lakehurst. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Lakefield Private Hospital or the Gideon Bible Society. Robert F. Stockdale

September 5, 1850 ~ July 1, 1927

Five sons and five daughters survive Robert Stockdale of Hall’s Bridge, who died suddenly on Friday, July 1, 1927. The are Wilmot, William, John, Roland and Lorne of Hall’s Bridge and Norman of Peterborough, and Mrs. Nelson Windover of Lakehurst, Mrs. Harry McIlmoyle and Mrs. Charles Ireland of Hall’s Bridge, Mrs. Roy Little of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Harry Stevenson of Verulam. One sister, Mrs. John McKenty of Peterborough, also survives.

  The funeral took place on Monday, conducted by the Rev. R. T. C. Dwelly of St. Aiden’s Church, Young’s Point. Interment was made in Little Lake Cemetery. Peterborough Examiner, July 6, 1927.
