Isabella Adams (1860 ~ 1935)

5.9. Ninth child of Robert Adams and Jane Patterson, Isabella Adams, was born June 15, 1860, in Clarke Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

She married Robert Johnston, son of Robert Johnston and Elizabeth Nesbitt, December 25, 1877, in Enniskillen, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and had six children:

Isabella Adams Johnston died January 10, 1935, aged 74 years in Midland, Ontario and is interred at Lakeview Cemetery.

Isabella Adams Johnston

Following a lengthy illness, Mrs. Robert Johnston died at her home here on Thursday, January 10, 1935, in her 74th year.

She had been a resident of Midland for 52 years, coming to this community with her husband six years after their marriage in 1877. Mr. Johnston and their eldest son predeceased her in 1898.

The late Mrs. Johnston was a lifelong Presbyterian, and became a member of Knox Presbyterian Church when the little congregation numbered only 50.

Miss Maud Johnston and Mrs. Allan Laidlaw of Midland, and Mrs. Alf Switzer, of Penetang, are daughters, and survive with two sons, John, of town, and James of Tionaga; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One brother, Mr. W. R. Adams, of Burketon, Ont., also survive.

The pallbearers were J. H. Armstrong, Ira Hill, James Archer, Herbert Montgomery, Allan Laidlaw and Alfred Switzer. Midland Free Press, Jan. 17, 1935.
