Leona Mildred Laidlaw  (1905 ~ 1976)

 

5.9.2.1. First child of Mary Jane Johnston and Allen Laidlaw, Leona Mildred Laidlaw, was born October 14, 1905, in French River, Parry Sound Dist., Ontario. 

  She married Dorval Avondale Houston, son of Alexander Houston and Maude Catherine Shirreffs, June 11, 1929, Midland, Ontario and had two children:  

 

• (5.9.2.1.1)  Barbara Mildred Fay  (1930 ~ 2013)

• (5.9.2.1.2)  Allan Alexander  (1931 ~ 1985)

 

  L. Mildred Laidlaw Houston died July 1, 1976, aged 70 years and Dorval A. Houston died January 17, 1966, aged 61 years in Toronto, Ontario, and are interred at Nashville Cemetery, Vaughan, Ontario.

On Thursday, July 1, 1976, at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Mildred Laidlaw, wife of the late Dorval Houston, dear mother of Barbara (Mrs. S. Jasinski), Toronto, and Allan Houston, Thornhill, dear sister of Frances (Mrs. R. A. Megaw), of Midland, Naomi (Mrs. L. W. Clark), of Toronto, Ruth (Mrs. W. Crisp), of Sarnia, John of Toronto, and the late Aberdeen Laidlaw. Also survive by seven grandchildren. Resting at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. West at Windermere, near the Jane subway. Funeral Service 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Interred Nashville Cemetery. Toronto Star, July 2, 1976.

 

Dorval A. Houston

June 11, 1903 ~ January 17, 1966

At St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Monday, January 17, 1966. Dorval Avondale Houston of 12 High Park Ave., Toronto, in his 62nd year. Retired manager Royal Bank of Canada. Beloved husband of Mildred Laidlaw, dear father of Barbara (Mrs. S. Jasinski), of Toronto; Allan A. of Richvale; brother of Maurice of Etobicoke, Lorraine (Mrs. William Smith), Brampton and Vedera (Mrs. Elgin Nelson), Caledon East, and the late Verton (Joseph) Houston, also survived by six grandchildren. Resting at the W. R. Scott and Son Funeral Home, 46-6th Ave. S. (at No. 7 Hwy.), Woodbridge.  Service in Chapel on Thursday morning, January 20, at 11 o’clock. Interred Nashville Cemetery. Masonic service in the funeral home Wednesday evening at 9 o’clock. Toronto Star, Jan. 18, 1966. 

 

Barbara M. Houston Jasinski

July 22, 1930 ~ October 7, 2013

Suddenly at home on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the age of 83.

Predeceased by her husband Steve. Loving mother of Edward, Mary and Martha. Loving Grandma of Matthew, Jennifer, Stephen and William. 

   Funeral Service to be confirmed.

Allan A. Houston

October 10, 1931 ~ March 4, 1985

Suddenly on Monday, March 4, 1985, Allan A. Houston, beloved husband of June Gray and dear father of Gordon and his wife Jane, Debbie, Karen (Mrs. Brad Smith) and Beverly (Mrs. Brian Copithorn). Grandfather of Garrett, Matt and Jason. A private family service was held from the Marshall Funeral Home, Richmond Hill. Toronto Star, Mar. 7, 1985.

 

Alexander Houston

November 11, 1876 ~ March 3, 1944

In Brampton on Friday, March 3, 1944, Alexander Houston, formerly C.P.R. agent at Kleinburg, Ontario, beloved husband of Maude Shirreffs, in his 69th year, dear father of Dorval A., Squadron Leader, Verton S., Maurice A., Lorraine (Mrs. William Smith), Vedera (Mrs. Elgin Nelson).

  Remains resting at his late home, 170 Main Street North.  Funeral from his late residence on Monday, March 6, at 2:30.  Interment in Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Ontario. Masonic service at the cemetery. Toronto Star, Mar. 4, 1944.

 

Maude C. Shirreffs Houston

November 22, 1877 ~ December 4, 1960

At Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton, on Sunday, December 4, 1960, Maude Shirreffs, in her 84th year, beloved wife of the late Alexander Houston, dear mother of Dorval of Toronto, Verton of Florida, Maurice of Weston, Lorraine (Mrs. William Smith) of Brampton and Vedera (Mrs. E. Nelson) of Caledon East. Resting at the McKillop Funeral Home, 173 Main St. N., Brampton.  Service in the chapel on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Interment Nashville Cemetery. Toronto Star, Dec. 5, 1960.

 

Robert Houston

December 17, 1820 ~ January 9, 1911

Mr. Robert Houston, an old resident of West Caledon, died at his home in Alton on Monday of last week, January 9, 1911. Deceased had attained the ripe age of ninety years and retained his health and the unimpaired use of his mental faculties almost to the last. He had been living retired in Alton for several years. The funeral was held on Wednesday, January 11, 1911, the remains being interred in Alton cemetery. Orangeville Banner, Jan. 19, 1911.
