She married James Arden “Ted” West, son of James Francis West and Julia Elizabeth Craddock, June 29, 1927, Midland, Ontario, and had nine children:

Suddenly at her residence on Sunday, May 27, 1990, Phoebe Mae West, in her 84th year. Member of the Golden Friendship Club and a member of Normanhurst. Beloved wife of the late James West. Loving mother of James, Marjorie, Don, Bob, Wayne, Eleanor, John, Carole and Arlene. Lovingly remembered by her 30 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Vera Hebner of Marmora and Margaret Milligan and Doris Todd, both of Hamilton. Predeceased by four brothers. Friends will be received at the L. G. Loving father of Sharon Lafleur (Gord), Dan West (Sue), Michelle White, Mike West, Cindy, and loving stepfather of Danny, Randy and Ricky Hachey. Cherished grandfather of many grandchildren. Dear brother of Jim West (Ginger), Bob West (Elsie), Wayne West, John West, Marjorie Chiswell, Eleanor West, Carol West (Bill) and Arlene Stacey (David). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Donald was a retiree of Dofasco with 27 years service, and a longstanding member of the National Steel Car Club and the Cayuga R.C.L. Visitation at the P.X. Mrs. Julia West, 484 MacNab Street North, died last evening, March 22, 1949 at her home, aged 70 years. Born in Coldwater, Ontario, she had been a resident of Hamilton for the last 25 years. Surviving are her husband, James West; five sons, Arthur and Immanuel, both of Hamilton, Phillip, of Oshawa, Kenneth, of Mount Hope, and Clifford, of Stoney Creek, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Oliver, of Toronto. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock from Dwyer’s Funeral Chapel to St. Mary’s Church for Requiem Mass at 9 o’clock. Interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
