Roger Henwood Motten  (1914 ~ 1998)

 

6.1.2.1. First child of Roger H. Motten and Jessie C. Barclay, Roger Henwood Motten II, was born June 30, 1914, in Colorado Springs, Col., U.S. 

  He married (1) Marjorie Helen Calnen, daughter of Henry Joseph Calnen and Ida M., July 26, 1939, in Hartford, Connecticut and had two children:

 

  • (6.1.2.1.1)  Roger Henwood III  (1945 ~ )

  • (6.1.2.1.2)  Richard Barclay  (1947 ~ 2018)

 

  He married (2) Doris J. Pettengill Bishop, daughter of Rollo Henry Pettengill and Lina Ridley, February 6, 1988, in Deltona, Volusia Co. Fla., U.S.

 

  Roger H. Motten II died June 20, 1998, aged 83 years and Marjorie H. Calnen Motten died September 27, 1986, aged 69 years in Deltona, Florida.

Miss Marjorie Helen Calnen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Calnen of Farmington Ave., became the bride of Mr. Roger Henwood Motten, Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. Roger H. Motten of Center St., Wethersfield, Wednesday morning, July 26, 1939, in St. Joseph’s rectory. Rev. John J. Hayes performed the 9 o’clock ceremony.

  The bride, whose only attendant was Miss Lois M. Pountney of Girard Ave., wore a green blue sheer ensemble and a white picture hat with queen blue trim. Her corsage was of butterfly orchids and lilies of the valley. A navy and white print dress and a picture hat trimmed with navy were worn by the maid of honor, whose corsage was of gardenias and lilies of the valley.

  Mr. Frederick A. Calderwood, Jr., served as Mr. Motten’s best man.

  The bride studied at Mt. St. Joseph Academy and St. Joseph College.  Mr. Motten was graduated fro Trinity College, where he was a member of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity. He is with the City Engineering Department. Harford Courant, July 27, 1939.

Roger H. Motten

Roger H. Motten Jr., 83, of Baton Dr., Deltona, a former engineer for A.P. Buck, Inc., died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at home. 

  Mr. Motten was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., and came here in 1979 from Bowling Green, Ohio. He was a member of Elks Lodge 2739 and the Deltona Hills Golf and Country Club.  He also was a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, Conn. 

  Survivors include two sons, Roger III, Casper, Wyo., and Richard, Bowling Green; a brother, Clement, Haverford, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two step grandchildren. Baldauff is in charge. Daytona Beach News Journal, June 23, 1998.

 

Marjorie C. Calnen Motten

November 1, 1916 ~ September 27, 1986

Marjorie C. Motten, 69, Freeport Dr., a resident of Deltona since 1979, died Saturday, September 27, 1986 at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford.

  Mrs. Motten was born in Hartford, Conn., and moved here from Bowling Green, Ohio. She attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and was a member of the Deltona Hills Country Club and the Nine Hole Group, Deltona.

  Survivors include her husband, Roger H.; two sons, Richard, Ohio, and Roger H. III, Casper, Wyo.; two brothers; and four grandchildren. Baldauff, Deltona, is in charge. Daytona Beach News Journal, Sept. 29, 1986.

 

Doris P. Bishop Motten

July 20, 1916 ~ December 5, 1997

Doris D. Motten, 81, of Baton Drive, a resident since 1973, died Friday, December 5, 1997 at home.

  Mrs. Motten came here from New Hudson, Mich., her birthplace. She was a member of the Deltona Country Club and Elks Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing golf and cards.

  Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Roger; a daughter, Brenda Briggs, New Hudson; and six grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, 32119. Baldauff is in charge. Daytona Beach News Journal, Dec. 7, 1997.

Richard B. Motten

November 19, 1946 ~ December 29, 2018

Richard B. Motten, 72, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away December 29, 2018. He was born November 19, 1946 in Hartford, Connecticut to Roger and Marge Motten.
  Dick graduated from McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania and from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee.
  He was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed fishing trips in Canada with his friends. He love watching his daughters play sports, coaching their softball teams, and attending their BGHS band events. Dick took great pleasure in driving his corvette, watching Yankee baseball and taking long walks with his husky, Cooper.
His career included working at the Wood County Health Department and the Ohio EPA in the Air Pollution division. For nearly 4 decades, Dick (Motten Financial) served the investment and retirement needs for the BG community and its university. In the past decade, he partnered with Capital Management Strategies.
  Dick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jo Anne Motten, children Cheryl (Michael) Reed of Lake Wales, Florida, Patti Motten of Bowling Green, two special grandsons Nate and Caleb Reed and his brother Roger “Wood” Motten of Casper, Wyoming.
  Dick was an avid BGSU Falcon Hockey fan since 1969 and has had season tickets since they first became available. Although he has kept his original seats in section B Row 1, he was more recently seen cheering for his team from the handicapped seating area accompanied by his “son” Matt Fisher.
  The family would like to thank all of the personnel at Bowling Green Care Center who took very good care of Dick after many hospitalizations.
  Visitation will be held Friday January 4, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. A prayer service will begin Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In honor of Dick’s love of BGSU Falcon Hockey, family and friends are welcome to wear BGSU colors.
