Ernest George Skinner (1884 ~ 1946)
6.2.1.8. Eighth child of Elizabeth Ullyot and George Skinner, Ernest George Orlando Skinner, was born January 31, 1884, in Oshawa, E. Whitby Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario.
He married Clara Mathilda Nordlum, daughter of Christian Nordlum and Andrine Marie Baarnaas, August 4, 1920, in Crookston, Minnesota, U.S.
Ernest G. Skinner died July 3, 1946, aged 62 years and Clara M. Nordlum Skinner died February 25, 1930, aged 40 years in Langdon, Cavalier Co., North Dakota.

Ernest G. Skinner
January 31, 1884 ~ July 3, 1946
Another of Langdon’s pioneer residents ended his life’s work when Ernest Skinner passed away Wednesday morning, July 3, 1946, at about 5 a.m., at a Langdon hospital. He had been in failing health for some time and more seriously ill the past two weeks.
Funeral services for the well-know mechanic will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clockat the Langdon Presbyterian church. Rev. Brunn will be in charge of the service and will be assisted by Rev. S. J. Brooks. Interment will be in Lebanon cemetery.
Ernest George Orlando, son of George and Elizabeth Skinner, was born January 31, 1884, at Oshawa, Ont. His parents were among Cavalier County’s pioneers, coming to the country when Ernest was six years old. He has resided in the county ever since, 56 years. Upon attaining manhood he farmed with his father for a number of years and since then has been employed in Langdon as a mechanic.
He was married to Clara Nordlum at Crookston, Minn., August 4, 1920. Mrs. Skinner passed away February 25, 1930. There were no children.
Two sisters survive. They are Mrs. Lavenia McDonald of Langdon and Mrs. Edith LaFrance of Rolla. Three sisters, including Mrs. Phoebe Trennum and Mrs. Nettie Long, and a brother Edgar predeceased him. His father, George Skinner, died June 8, 1924, and his mother, the former Elizabeth Ullyot, passed away August 2, 1929, both at Langdon. Cavalier County Republican, July 6, 1946.

Clara Nordlum Skinner
September 16, 1890 ~ February 25, 1930
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Langdon Saturday morning at 10 o’clock for Mrs. Ernest Skinner, who passed away at the family home Tuesday, following an illness caused by complications following an attack of anemia about a year ago. The services will be in charge of Rev. C. T. Ensign, and interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Clara Mathilda Nordlum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Nordlum, was born in Beltrami County, Minn., September 16, 1890. She was reared and educated in that community, and lived there until 1920, when the married Ernest Skinner of Langdon and moved with him to Langdon.
Mrs. Skinner was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and a diligent worker in the Rebecca, missionary and ladies’ aid groups of which she was a member.
She is survived by her husband, Ernestr Skinner of Langdon; her invalid mother, Mrs. C. Nordlum of Minneapolis; four sisters, Mrs. D. D. Hillmer of Beltrami, Minn.; Mable Nordlum, Mrs. L. G. Houtz and Mrs. C. R. Holstrom, all of Minneapolis; and three brothers, Carl of Minneapolis, Clifford of Thief River Falls, Minn.; and Oliver of Hazel Park, Minn. Several members of the family are expected in Langdon for the funeral. Cavalier County Republican, Feb. 27, 1930.
