Mary Jane Ullyot  (1844 ~ 1935)

 

6.2.2. Second child of Mary Elford and Thomas Ullyot, Mary Jane Ullyot, was born April 12, 1844, in Oshawa, E. Whitby Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario.

  She married Samuel Wilkinson Moore, son of Thomas Moore and Sarah Powers, November 12, 1871, in Oshawa, Ontario and had six children:

  Mary J. Ullyot Moore died January 17, 1935, aged 90 years in Kelliher, Saskatchewan, and Samuel W. Moore died February 17, 1911, aged 63 years in Brandon, Manitoba.

Mary J. Ullyot Moore

April 12, 1844 ~ January 17, 1935

Mrs. Mary J. Moore, aged 90 years, died at Kelliher, Sask., last week and was buried at Pettapiece on Saturday. Deceased, who was 90 years of age, had been a resident of Pettapiece for 55 years. She and her husband, who died in 1911, being the first settlers in the Pettapiece district.  She leaves one son, Elgin, of Vancouver, and two daughters, Mrs. E. H. Stevens of Kelliher and Mrs. T. Wolstenholme of Pettapiece. The funeral was held from the united church, the Rev. W. W. Harland officiating. The bearers were Gilbert, Garth, Norman and Harry Wolstenholme, W. E. Switzer and E. H. Stevens. Brandon Daily Sun, Jan. 24, 1935.

Samuel W. Moore

March 18, 1845 ~ February 17, 1911

The death occurred on Friday evening [February 17, 1911] of Samuel W. Moore, aged 65 years, one of the pioneers of Western Manitoba.

  The deceased come to the Rapid City district about 35 years ago and lived there for a quarter of a century. In 1900 he retired from farming and took up his residence in Brandon at 226 Dennis St., where his death occurred.

  During this residence here the late Samuel Moore became widely known to the people of Brandon and made a large circle of friends and acquaintances with whom he was very popular.

  The funeral service will be held at his late residence on Sunday at two p.m. and on Monday the remains will be taken to Pettapiece for interment.

  The deceased is survived by his wife, one son, E. Moore, of Winnipeg and two daughters, Mrs. Wolstenholme of Pettapiece, and Miss Edna Moore of Brandon.

  Deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F., and all members of the Order in the city are requested to meet at the lodge room at 1 p.m. tomorrow to attend the funeral.
