Carrie Muirhead  (1879 ~ 1949)

 

7.1.1. First child of Josiah J. Muirhead and Mary Yule, Carrie Muirhead, was born January 26, 1879, in Roseneath, Alnwick Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario. 

  She married Ethelbert Elijah Latta, son of William Anson Latta and Mary Jane Brintnell, January 21, 1904, in Alnwick Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario. 

  

  Carrie Muirhead Latta died May 30, 1949, aged 70 years and Dr. E. E. Latta died August 16, 1945, aged 68 years, in Kingston, Ontario and are interred at Cobourg Union Cemetery.

Carrie Muirhead Latta

Death of Mrs. Carrie Latta, the former Carrie Muirhead, occurred in the Kingston General Hospital early Monday, May 30, 1949. Mrs. Latta was well-known throughout the city. Her husband, the late Dr. E. E. Latta, was a past president of the Rotary Club. Mrs. Latta was a past president of the Rotary Anns. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and Sydenham Street United Church.

 Born at Roseneath, Ontario, a daughter of the late Josiah Muirhead and Mary Yule, Mrs. Latta resided in Colborne for some time, where her husband had his practice. She had resided in this city for the past 30 years.

  Funeral will be held from her late residence, 243 Albert Street, Wednesday at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Cobourg. Service will be conducted by Dr. C. E. J. Cragg assisted by Dr. W. T. G. Brown. Kingston Whig-Standard, May 30, 1949.

 

Ethelbert E. Latta

November 15, 1876 ~ August 16, 1945

Dr. E. E. Latta, 68, chief medical officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Kingston Branch, died Thursday, August 16, 1945 at the Kingston General Hospital, where he had been confined for about two weeks.

  Dr. Latta was born in Corbyville, educated at Belleville and later received his medical degree from Trinity College in Toronto. He was a veteran of the South African War and the First Great War.  After the First Great War, he came to Kingston where he held the position of chief medical officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs.      

  He was a member of the Sydenham Street United Church, the Masonic Order and past president of the Rotary Club in this city.

  Surviving are his wife, the former Carrie Muirhead of Roseneath, a sister-in-law, a nephew and a niece residing in Corbyville.

  Funeral will take place Saturday morning at 11 o’clock from his late residence, 243 Albert Street, with Rev. Dr. Harry B. Clarke of Sydenham Street Church, conducting the service. Interment will be made at Cobourg Cemetery. Kingston Whig-Standard, Aug. 16, 1945.
