Ruby Irene Harsen  (1903 ~ 1950)

 

8.1.1.1. First child of Sarah J. Linton and Frank Harsen, Ruby Irene Harsen, was born September 27, 1903, in Five Lakes, Michigan. 

  She married Virgil Earl Newton, son of Albert Newton and Luella Smith, June 13, 1943, in Lum, Michigan.

 

  Ruby I. Harsen Newton died June 5, 1950, aged 46 years in Flint, Michigan, and is interred at Lum Cemetery.

Ruby I. Harsen Newton

Services were held Thursday in Flint for Ruby Irene Newton, 46, who died Monday, June 5, 1950, at Hurley Hospital, where she had been a patient for the last eight weeks. Burial was in Lum cemetery.

  Born September 27, 1903, at Five Lakes, the daughter of Frank and Sarah Linton Harsen of Lum, she married Virgil E. Newton, June 13, 1943 in Lum. She had taught the Roosevelt school in Sylvan Lake, near Pontiac for the past 16 years.

 Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents and one brother and sister, Keith Harsen, of Lum, and Zada Harsen, a nurse at Hurley hospital. One brother, Eldon, died some years ago.

  At one time, before going to Pontiac to teach, she taught the Lum school. Some of the teachers who worked with her attended the funeral. Lapeer County Press, June 15, 1950.
