Edward Weldon Linton  (1880 ~ 1956)

 

8.1.2. Second child of John M. Linton and Melcha Zimmerman, Edward Weldon Linton, was born December 26, 1880, in Gorrie, Howick Twp., Huron Co., Ontario. 

  He married Maude Ethel Pilkenton, daughter of William Washington Pilkenton and Sarah Ellen Walsh, December 30, 1913, in Hinton, West Virginia, U.S. and had one child:

 

 

  Edward W. Linton died August 13, 1956, aged 75 years in Baracoa, Oriente, Cuba and Maude E. Pilkenton Linton died May 31, 1969, aged 75 years in Gainesville, Florida, U.S.

Edward W. Linton

Keys residents and friends throughout South Florida will regret to learn of the death [August 13, 1956] of Capt. Eddie W. Linton of 655 N.W. 10th Street, Homestead, who with his wife lived on Sugar Loaf Key for fifteen years, and operated the Fish Basket.

  Capt. And Mrs. Linton moved to Homestead last May. At the time of his passing, he and Mrs. Linton were vacationing in Barocoa, Cuba, which is over seven hundred miles southeast of Havana, where he suffered a heart attack. Mr. Linton was a native of Lapeer, Michigan.

  Due to stringent laws on burial in Cuba, Masonic funeral services and entombment took place in Barocoa.

  Besides his widow, Capt. Linton is suvived by a daughter, Mrs. W. Browning and five grandchildren, all of Daytona Beach. Key West Citizen, Sept. 6, 1956.

Maude E. Pilkenton Linton

September 25, 1893 ~ May 31, 1969

Mrs. Maude E. Linton, 75, died Saturday, May 31, 1969, in her home at 1750 S.W. Williston Rd. She was a member of the Methodist church.

  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William E. Browning, Gaines-ville; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Harsbarger, Bluefield, W. Va., Mrs. Vivian Shinault, Rossville, Ga.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gainesville Sun, June 2, 1969.
