Pierce Marsh Moore  (1931 ~ 1979)

 

8.2.2.4. Fourth child of Benjamin F. Moore and Grace L. Higley, Pierce Marsh Moore, was born October 15, 1931, in Lapeer, Lapeer Co., Michigan, U.S. 

  He married (1) Marilyn Joan Halbert, daughter of Walter Everett Halbert and Helen Lucille Green, 1951 and had four children:

  • (8.2.2.4.2)  Kathryn Lynn  (1954 ~ 1954)

  • (8.2.2.4.3)  Michael Edward  (1956 ~ )

  He married (2) Muriel Jean Lake, daughter of John Gordon Lake and Gladys Cordelia Young, January 10, 1968, in Flint, Michigan and had a one child:

  Pierce M. Moore died October 11, 1979, aged 47 years in Lincoln, Michigan, and is interred at Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer, Michigan.

Pierce M. Moore

October 15, 1931 ~ October 11, 1979

Pierce Moore, 47, a native of Lapeer, died last Thursday at his home in Lincoln, Mich., near Alpena. He had been in failing health for some time.

  Mr. Moore was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the Army after he was graduated from MSU in 1953. He was forced to take an early retirement after he lost a leg in an automobile accident and was discharged with the rank of captain.

  He served a 3-year tour of duty with the artillery in Germany.

After leaving the Army he was employed as Vesely Co. in sales and as credit manager.

  The son of Benjamin and Grace Moore of Lapeer, he was a 1949 graduate of Lapeer High School.

  He leaves a son and a daughter Michael and Patricia Moore, both of 1182 Monroe St., Lapeer and two other daughters Diane Moore of Alpena and Mrs. Susan McCormick of Charlotte; two brothers, Ben of Troy and George of Lapeer and a sister Mrs. Lorene Goldberg of Royal Oak.

  The Rev. Robert Fox conducted services Sunday at Baird-Newton Funeral Home. Burial was in Stiles Cemetery. Lapeer County Press, Oct. 17, 1979.

Marilyn J. Halbert Moore Barclay

February 8, 1931 ~ August 18, 2010

Marilyn J. Barclay, 79, of Lapeer died on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Marilyn was born on February 8, 1931 to Walter and Helen Halbert.

  She worked many years as a caseworker for the Department of Social Services in Flint. Mrs. Barclay attended Calvary Bible Church, was a member of IOOF #94 and Lapeer American Legion Post #16 Auxiliary. Marilyn was the Civil Defense Director for Lapeer County from 1968-1980. She proudly volunteered for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Irwin Elementary School and the Homeless Shelter Refuge through the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer.

  Marilyn is survived by her children, Susan McCormick of Sparta, MI, Michael (Michaela Hoenicke Moore) Moore of Iowa City, Iowa and Patricia Moore of Mt. Morris; granddaughter, Jennifer McCormick of Grand Rapids; step-children, Glen, Hope, Carol, Allan, Faith and Dan and several grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen "Burnie" Barclay and infant daughter, Kathy Barclay; father, Walter Halbert; mother, Helen Flynn and step-father, Edward Flynn.

  Memorial contributions may be made the IOOF #94 (for children's charities).

  Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 1021 S. Main, Lapeer. Burial took place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer.
