Patricia A. Davis Miller

Patricia Ann Miller, 80, of Walled Lake since 2014, formerly lifetime Lapeer resident, died Saturday August 26, 2017. She was born June 2, 1937 in Lapeer to parents Floyd and Bessie (Weston) Davis. Patricia attended her beloved Alma College, but finished her bachelor’s degree through Central University. She married Donald E. Miller in 1957, in Flint. Pat was a recreation therapist at the Lapeer Oakdale Center for 32 years, she was literally one of the last few staff there. She really loved all animals; even adopting wild animals for a stretch. Mrs. Miller enjoyed making teddy bears, being notably crafty and artistic and a collector of Santas. For many years; she wrote and mailed out the local State retirees newsletter, SERA. Her family defined her as proficient in genealogy; tracking her mom’s family back to the pilgrims time and beyond. She used that knowledge as a volunteer at the Lapeer Historical Society. Pat had a “wicked sense of humor and didn’t mince words.” Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughters: Carol (Eric Hyde) Miller of Walled Lake; Julie (J. Tito) Coronado of Wixom, grandchildren: Grant Hyde; Austen Bradford; Noah Miller and cousin: Margaret Haglund. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Don Miller (8/1/16) and her parents. A memorial service to honor Patricia's life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The celebration of Patricia's life will continue with food and fellowship from 2-4PM Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Calvelli's Eatery,44 W. Park St, Lapeer, MI 48446. Memorial contributions may be made to Paradise Animal Rescue, 2266 N. Lapeer Rd., Lapeer, MI 48446. Family has entrusted cremation to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.

Donald E. Miller

Donald Edward Miller of Walled Lake, formerly of Lapeer was born February 18, 1935 in Flint and died August 1, 2016 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of 58 years to Patricia Ann (nee: Davis) Miller. Loving father of Carol (Eric Hyde) Miller and Julie (J. Tito) Coronado. Grandfather of Grant Hyde, Austen Bradford, Noah Miller. Dear brother of Sharron Nelson and the late Juanita Bailey. Mr. Miller was a Master Gardener and 2010 Male Citizen of the Year in Lapeer. He taught biology at Lapeer High School East, and was Past President of MARSP. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who cared for his wife for the last few years. He was a volunteer naturalist and an avid bird watcher who enjoyed the outdoors. He was a faithful servant of God and was very active at his church singing in choir and helping in whatever way he could. A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church 2905 S. Commerce Rd, Wolverine Lake Sunday 5 PM with dinner to follow. Memorials to the church appreciated.
