Archie Wilbert Adams (1893 ~ 1966)
9.3.1. First child of Thomas J. Adams and Maggie Brisbin, Archie Wilbert Adams, was born September 18, 1893, in Fenella, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.
He married Mildred Alberta Peat, daughter of John Charles Ferrier Peat and Charlotte Ellen Macklin, February 14, 1917, in Haldimand Twp., Ontario and had four children:

Archie W. Adams died August 21, 1966, aged 72 years and Mildred A. Peat Adams died May 10, 1988, aged 94 years in Sceptre, Saskatchewan and are interred at Sceptre Memorial Cemetery.

On Wednesday afternoon, February 14, 1917, by Rev. R. J. Ross of Baltimore, at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mildred Alberta Peat, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Peat of Baltimore, to Archie Wilbert Adams of Fenella. Cobourg World, Feb. 23, 1917.

Archie W. Adams
Funeral services for a long-time resident of the Sceptre-Prelate district, Archie Adams, were held in the Sceptre United Church on Wednesday, August 24, 1966, with Rev. B. Snow officiating. Mr. Adams passed away at his residence in Sceptre on August 21, 1966.
Pallbearers were Donald Campbell, Adam Dickie, Wilf Powers, George Widdis, Elmer Armstrong, Harvey Staple.
Mr. Adams was born in Fenella, Ontario, September 18, 1893, and came to the Prelate district in 1916 where he farmed. In 1920 he moved to the Sceptre district.
He is survived by his wife Mildred; one daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Art Blezard) of Sceptre; three sons, Kenneth of Prince Albert, Clifford of Portreeve, and Russell of Portage la Prairie, Man.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Frank Adams, of Roseneath, Ont.; and one sister, Miss Ruby Adams of Cobourg, Ont.
Interment was in Sceptre Memorial Cemetery, with Culham’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Leader News, Sept. 1, 1966.
Mildred A. Peat Adams
August 18, 1893 ~ May 10, 1988
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Adams were held in Sceptre United Church on Saturday, May 14, 1988. Rev. Frank Baldock officiated with Miss Grace Joyner as organist. Active pallbearers were Lynn Lecuyer, George Kales, Adam Dickie, John Filyk, Manfred Peterson, and Walter King. Honorary pallbearers were Fred and Lucy Heeg, Laura and Elmer Armstrong, Harvey and Mary Staple. Ushers were Bob Staple and Bob Dickie.
Mildred Adams was born in Alnwick Twp., Ontario on August 18, 1893. On February 14, 1917, she married Archie Adams and they moved out west to a farm north of Prelate. They resided in that area until 1920 when they moved into the Sceptre district. In 1950, they moved into the town of Sceptre where she lived until 1983 when she became a resident of the Senior Citizen’s Home in Leader. She was a very active community person workign with the Red Cross in earlier years, was a 25 year member of the Women’s Institute, belonged to Sceptre Ladies Whist Club and was active in the U.C.W. and many others.
Mildred worked caring for many elderly ladies and was well known for her fancy work and quilts.
She was predeceased by her husband Archie in August, 1966, her six sisters and one brother and one son-in-law, Artie Blezard in 1982. She is survived by three sons, Ken (Anne) of Prince Albert, Cliff (Mabel) of Sceptre, Russ (Lila) of Portage-la-Prairie, Manitoba. One daughter Margaret Blezard of Sceptre, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended from Portage, Manitou, Regina, Carnduff, Minnedosa, Swift Current, Calgary, Saskatoon and Radville.
Interment was in Sceptre Memorial Cemetery with Binkley’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Leader News, May 25, 1988.
