----- OBITUARIES -----
Clifford R. Adams
Mr. Cliff Adams, age 80, of Sceptre, Saskatchewan passed away on Friday, February 8, 2002. The late Mr. Adams is survived by his loving family: his wife of 50 years, Mabel (nee King), his three children, Joan Adams, Jacqueline Adams and Doug (Dixie) Adams and his two granddaughters Kari and Kimberlee; his brother Russ and his sister Margaret Blezard as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Archie and Mildred, his brother Ken and his wife Anne (nee Kurtenbach) and brother-in-law Artie Blezard.
Cliff was born on March 18, 1921 on a farm north of Sceptre and attended Fairbanks school. In 1941 Cliff joined the army and in 1942 was shipped to England where he worked as a mechanic. After his discharge in 1945 Cliff returned to Canada. In 1951 he and Mabel were married and in 1952 they moved to Portreeve where they raised their family. While in Portreeve Cliff had a variety of occupations: Federal Grain Elevator agent from 1953-57; school bus driver for 20 years; farmer; mechanic; bulk fuel driver to name a few. Together the Adams family operated the booth at Lemsford Ferry Regional Park for a number of years. In 1980 Cliff and Mabel returned to live in Sceptre where Cliff worked for the Pioneer Co-op until his retirement. Although Cliff was a hard worker all his life he always had time to help family and friends. Cliff enjoyed fishing, gambling, playing cards, traveling, tinkering with machines, auction sales, antiques, old cars, working at the Sandhills Museum and visiting with family and friends. There was nothing Cliff couldn’t fix and many hard to find parts could be found in some corner of the “Pool Hall” in Portreeve or the shops on “Potato Row” in Sceptre.
Cliff was very proud of all his children and in particular his daughter Jackie’s musical ability. Many great times were spent at the Adams house making music with friends and family. Cliff will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service was held at Sceptre Memorial Gardens, Sceptre, Saskatchewan at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2002, with Rev. Michael Webster officiating. Pallbearers were all of Cliff’s family. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Cliff’s friends.
