Russell Glen Adams  (1923 ~ 2008)

 

9.3.1.3. Third child of Archie W. Adams and Mildred A. Peat, Russell Glen Adams, was born September 15, 1923, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

  He married Ruby Ailene Lily Demman, daughter of William Edward Demman and Nellie Atline Dahmer, on April 2, 1947*, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and had two children:

  • (9.3.1.3.2)  Judith Gail  (1951 ~ )

 

  Russell G. Adams died May 7, 2008, aged 84 years, and Ruby A. Demman Adams Unger died July 29, 2020, aged 92 years, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Russell G. Adams

Suddenly on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Portage District General Hospital. Russell Glen Adams, widower of the late Lyla Adams passed away at the age of 84 years.

  At Russell’s request no formal funeral service will be held.

 Russell was born on September 15, 1923 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to Archie & Mildred Adams. He served in the Armed Forces and Served in Italy during WWII and when he was wounded, he returned to Portage and worked at various jobs.

  He was an avid camper & loved going to garage sales. He enjoyed his visits at Tim Horton’s & Lunches at Chicken Chef.

  Predeceased by his parents, his wife Lyla, two brothers, Cliff & Ken, he leaves to mourn his passing two daughters Judy (Jack) McGillivary of Manitou, Man. and Diane Dyck of Portage, four grandchildren; Kevin, Alan (Natalie) of Portage, Angie (Darwin) Roy of Edwin, David Dyck of The Pas, two great grandchildren, one sister Margaret and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruby I. Demman Adams Unger

March 24, 1928 ~ July 29, 2020

Peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, Ruby Unger passed away at the MacGregor Personal Care Home at the age of 92 years.

  She was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Unger, parents Nellie and Bill Demman, brothers Wayne and Bill Demman, sister Shirley Martin, brother-in-law Henry Martin and sister-in-law Lorraine Demman. Ruby will be fondly remembered by her daughters Diane Dyck and Judith (Jack) McGillivary; grandchildren Angie (Darwin) Roy, David (Candace) Dyck, Kevin McGillivary and Alan (Natalie) McGillivary; great grandchildren Carter and Austin Roy, Bryon and Kaitlyn Dyck, Kolby and Parker McGillivary; sister-in-law Karen Demman, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

  A private family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

  As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ruby’s memory to the MacGregor Personal Care Home, Box 250, MacGregor, MB, ROH 0R0.

Lyla M. Murray Bird Adams

June 6, 1924 ~ February 18, 1990

On Sunday, February 18, 1990 at the Portage General Hospital, Lyla May Adams of 841 Duke Avenue, Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of Russell Adams passed away at the age of 65 years. Cremation.

  At Lyla’s request there will be no service. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a family service at a later date at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

  Lyla was born on June 6, 1924, a daughter of James and Elsie Murray at Portage la Prairie, where she was raised and received her education. During World War Two she had been employed at C.F.B. Southport. In 1969 she married Russell Adams at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. They had resided in Portage la Prairie until the present time.

  Lyla’s life centered around her home and family, she especially enjoyed the time spent with her sisters and their families. Among her other interests she had enjoyed camping, playing Bingo and visiting with friends.

  Predeceased by her father, her son Delwyn Bird in 1983, she leaves to mourn her passing her husband Russell, her mother Elsie Murray of Lion’s Prairie Manor and her daughter-in-law Elsebeth of Langley, B.C. Also surviving are two brothers; Bob of Calgary and Norman of British Columbia, three sisters; Marge and brother-in-law Clarence Rands of Portage la Prairie, Joy and brother-in-law Don Gummerson of Winnipeg, Myrna and brother-in-law Cal Garrioch of Portage la Prairie and several nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by special friends Phyllis White and Helen and Henry Davis all of Portage la Prairie.
