----- OBITUARY -----

F. Eric Adams

A very sad death took place on Saturday, June 8, 1946, when Francis Eric Adams, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Adams, Fenella, died after a lengthy illness in Cobourg General Hospital.  Although it was known that his condition was not good, the end came suddenly. He was in his 26th year.

Eric was of a quiet disposition, but a bright and cheerful personality. He will be much missed by a wide circle of friends.  With his father and mother and brothers, Eldon and Heber much sympathy is felt.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon from the home of his parents, to Macklin’s Cemetery and was very largely attended.  The service was conducted by Rev. R. C. White, Roseneath, who spoke consolingly. Eric was a member of Fenella United Church and was secretary-treasurer of the Sunday School for a number of years. He was secretary-treasurer of the Fenella softball team. The flowers placed on and around his casket were emblems of love and the high esteem in which he was held. Among the floral tributes from friends was a spray from the Fenella United Church and a spray from the softball team.

The pallbearers were Elmer Harper, Don Leach, Hilton Jewell, Elmer Sherwin, Reginald George, and Clifford Macklin. The flower bearers were cousins and boys of the softball team.

Friends and relatives were present from Oshawa, Tyrone and Cobourg. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, June 20, 1946.
