----- MARRIAGE -----

Adams-Davis

The United Church parsonage at Roseneath, decorated with peonies, was the setting for the marriage of Phyllis Ellen, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Davis of Fenella to John Eldon Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Adams, also of Fenella.

Rev. R. C. White officiated.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length, full skirted white satin gown with rich embroidery and trapunto to highlight the front in a deep yoke; long princess, sleeves fitting closely.

Her fingertip veil was of fine net bordered with chantilly lace, with a halo of matching lace with rhinestones, and she wore the groom’s gift, a diamond necklace, and carried a bouquet of peonies, tied with a large pink bow.

She was attended by Miss Rose Vennall, of Cobourg, who wore a gown of pale blue brocaded marquisette with feather headdress and who also carried a bouquet of peonies.

Heber Adams was his brother’s groomsman.

The reception was held at the home of the bride, where the bride’s mother received in a gown of navy blue sheer with accessories to match. She was assisted by the groom’s mother, who wore black and white silk jersey with matching accessories.  Both wore corsages of white rosebuds.

The wedding supper was served with the bride’s table covered with a fine lace cloth and decorated with pink and white bows with matching candles with a three-tiered wedding cake.  Waitresses were Miss Lavigne Ivatt, Miss Ruby Adams and Mrs. Frank Davis.

The happy couple left by motor, to honeymoon at Niagara Falls and points in the States, the bride travelling in a navy blue gabardine suit with hat and accessories to match and corsage of American beauty roses. They will reside at 53 Chapel St., Cobourg.

Those attending the reception were three grandmothers: Mrs. M. Adams, Mrs. E. J. Milne and Mrs. A. Davis; Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Adams and Heber; Miss Ruby Adams; Rev. and Mrs. R. C. White and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nichol of Roseneath; A. Davis, Burnley; Mr. and Mrs. Stanyer of Oshawa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis of Cobourg; Mrs. E.
