Frank Murray Adams  (1899 ~ 1985)

 

9.3.4. Fourth child of Thomas J. Adams and Maggie Brisbin, Frank Murray Adams, was born May 24, 1899, in Fenella, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.

  He married Annie Belva Thackeray, daughter of Corelli Stanley Thackeray and Sarah Jane Grigg, September 6, 1922, in Roseneath, Ontario and had eight children:

 

 

  Frank M. Adams died November 28, 1985, aged 86 years and Annie B. Thackeray Adams died May 23, 1989 aged 88 years in Cobourg, Ontario and are interred at Centenary Cemetery.

Adams-Thackeray

At high noon on Wednesday, September 6, 1922, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Corelli Thackeray, Alnwick Twp., was the scene of a pretty marriage, when their daughter, Miss Annie, was married to Mr. Frank Adams, third son of Mrs. Thomas Adams of Fenella, Rev. Mr. Walsh, pastor of Roseneath circuit, assisted by Rev. H. A. Bunt of Canton, a former pastor, officiated. About eighty five guests were present. Mr. and Mrs. Adams left for a trip to Toronto and other western points before taking up residence in Haldimand Twp. Cobourg World, Sept. 15, 1922.

Frank M. Adams

Following a year-long illness, Frank Murray Adams died at the Cobourg General Hospital, recently [November 28, 1985] at the age of 86.

 Born at Fenella to Maggie Brisbin and Thomas Adams, he attended Fenella Public School before farming in the Roseneath area.

  Frank Adams married Annie Thackeray in Roseneath 63 years ago. The couple celebrated their 50th and 55th wedding anniversaries in the Roseneath United Church where Mr. Adams served as an elder, and their 60th anniversary in the Fenella Church.

  A member of the Roseneath Agricultural Society, Mr. Adams was made an honorary member and received a plaque in 1979.

  His hobbies centred around farming but he also enjoyed watch-ing television and playing euchre, particularly with the Senior Citizens clubs of Roseneath, Hastings and Cobourg.

  Surviving are his wife; daughters Mrs. Noreen Darling, Whitby; Barbara (Mrs. William Grieve), Belleville; Myrna (Mrs. Cliff Page), Cobourg; sons Everett and Dean, Baltimore; Neil, Belleville; Don, Peterborough and Gerald, Cobourg.  He was the grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers Archie and Delbert and sister Ruby.

  Funeral services was conducted in the Roseneath United Church, December 1, 1985, with interment in the Centenary Cemetery. Cobourg Daily Star, Jan. 15, 1986.

Annie B. Thackeray Adams

May 3, 1901 ~ May 23, 1989

At the Cobourg District General Hospital on Tuesday, May 23, 1989. Formerly Annie Thackeray, she is the wife of the late Frank M. Adams and dear mother of Everett and his wife Joy of Cobourg, Noreen Darling of Bowmanville, Neil and his wife Shirley of Belleville, Donald and his wife Jean of Peterborough, Barbara Grieve and her husband Bill of Belleville, Myrna Page and her husband Clifford and Gerald and his wife Lois all of Cobourg and Dean and his wife Pat of Baltimore. Mrs. Adams is predeceased by three brothers, Clarence, Lorne and Stewart. Also survived by 26 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Milroy Funeral Home, 301 Division St., Cobourg on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in Roseneath United Church on Thursday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Centenary Cemetery, Roseneath. If friends so desire remembrances to the Centenary Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated by the family. Cobourg Daily Star, May 24, 1989.
