----- MARRIAGE -----
Adams-Skinkle
A quiet wedding was solemnized Saturday, May 4, 1946 at the home of the bride’s parents by Rev. Lester of Warkworth when Margaret Joy, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Skinkle of Norham, was united in marriage to Everett Adams, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adams of Roseneath.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white sheer over taffeta with long sleeves and v-neck trimeed with silver sequins. She wore a fingertip veil of embroidered silk net caught in a halo of white flowers. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Miss Edna Skinkle, the bride’s sister, was bridesmaid, wearing a floor length gown of pink sheer over taffeta. She carried a bouquet of roses, carnations and fern. Her sister, June was flower girl in floor-length of white crepe, and she carried a nosegay to match.
Neil Adams, brother of the groom, was best man.
After the ceremony, the guests, numbering about sixty, were served a buffet lunch by Valeeta and Mavis Thackeray, Jean Braithwaite, Keitha Broen, Doreen Greenly and Doris Poole.
The rooms were decorated in pink and white and the table with a four-tier wedding cake flanked with pink candles in silver holders and vases of roses and fern. The bride’s mother received in a printed jersey dress with hat to match. Her corsage was of pale pink carnations. She was assisted by the groom’s mother wearing a two-piece green crepe dress with hat to match. Her corsage was of yellow carnations.
Later the happy couple left for a trip to Toronto and points west, the bride travelling in a lime green suit with a black hat and accessories. On their return they will reside on the groom’s farm north of Roseneath, better known as the Campbell homestead Cobourg Sentinel-Star, May 16, 1946.
