Adams-Page

A lovely January wedding was solemnized at Roseneath United Church on Saturday, January 17, 1953, when Myrna Maxine, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adams, became the bride of Clifford Robert Page, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Page, Cobourg.

The chancel of the church was decorated with baskets of yellow daffodils.

The double-ring ceremony was performed by Rev. J. R. Wheeler. Wedding music was played by Miss Lois Arthur. The soloist was Victor Hewson, Cobourg, who sang “I love you Truly” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was radiant in a gown of ivory chantilly lace and net over satin. The bodice was strapless nylon net with lace bolero, with long sleeves tapering to points and collared neckline; bouffant skirt of scalloped lace and net with train. A pearl halo held the bride’s veil of nylon net with border of chantilly lace. She carried a cascade of red roses and hyacinths completed her costume.

Miss Barbara Adams, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid gowned in shell pink nylon net and lace, with matching bolero and silver embroidery on the skirt. She wore matching headdress and mittens and carried pink roses and hyacinth. Judy Adams, niece of the bride, was flower girl in a ballerina dress maize nylon carrying a nosegay of yellow and white ‘mums. A nephew of the bride, John Darling, was ring bearer.

The best man was Clarence Page, brother of the groom with Bill Grieve and Neil Adams ushers.

The reception was held at Maple Lodge. The bride’s mother received in a gown of midnight blue crepe and lace with black accessories. The groom’s mother assisting, wore a gown of figured nylon with black accessories. Both mothers wore corsages of red roses.

Six friends of the bride, Misses Freida Broadworth, Lavigne Parker, Shirley Rosebush, Joy Parker, Roma Braithwaite and Doris Robbins were waitresses, serving dinner to the eighty guests.  The bride’s table was centred with a three-tier wedding cake, roses, pink and white candles.

The bride presented her bouquet to her 82 year old grandmother, Mrs. Maggie Adams, Fenella.

For travelling to the U.S.A., the bride donned a tailored suit of copper brown gabardine with matching accessories and a gold-coloured hat with a corsage of yellow roses. They will reside on College St., Cobourg. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Jan. 22, 1953.
