Leah Jane Sherwin  (1918 ~ 1985)

 

9.4.1.2. Second child of Delbert T. Sherwin and Mabel Brown, Leah Jane Sherwin, was born May 8, 1918, in Roseneath, Alnwick Twp., Ontario.

  She married Norman Ashley Foreman, son of Ashley Henry Foreman and Florence Ann Strath, November 20, 1943, in Cobourg, Ontario and had two children:

  • (9.4.1.2.2)  Carolyn Sharmaine  (1948 ~ )

 

  Leah J. Sherwin Foreman died November 14, 1985, aged 67 years and Norman A. Foreman died March 5, 1996, aged 82 years in Cobourg, Ontario and is interred at Centenary Cemetery, Roseneath, Ontario.

A quiet wedding was solemnized on Saturday, November 20, 1943, at 2 p.m., at Trinity United Church parsonage, Cobourg, when Leah Jane, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Sherwin, Roseneath, became the bride of Norman Foreman, of Roseneath, son of Ashley Henry Foreman and the late Mrs. Foreman of Sceptre, Sask.  Rev. W. P. Woodger officiated.

 The bride wore a street-length dress of blue crepe, the bodice appliqued in contrasting blue, blue hat, navy coat and accessories.  She was attended by Miss Ila McCracken, of Roseneath, who wore blue crepe, navy hat and coat. Neil Sherwin, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Following the ceremony dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents to the immediate relatives.

  Mr. and Mrs. Foreman left later by motor for Montreal. On their return they will reside near Roseneath. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Nov. 25, 1943.

Mrs. Leah Foreman, at the Cobourg Hospital on Thursday, November 14, 1985 in her 68th year. Leah Sherwin of Roseneath, beloved wife of Norman Forman. Loving mother of Morris and Carolyn (Mrs. David Cook), all of Roseneath. Sister of Neil Sherwin of Florida and predeceased by sister Evalena O’Connell. Norman A. Foreman

September 8, 1913 ~ March 5, 1996

At the Cobourg General Hospital on Tuesday, March 5, 1996. Norman Foreman of Roseneath was the beloved husband of the late Leah Sherwin. Forever remembered by daughter Carolyn and son Morris and their families all of Roseneath. Dear brother of Eva Blain of Carstairs, Alberta. Predeceased by three brothers, John, Leslie and James and one sister Edna Denney. In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation and a private family service will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg. Spring interment at Centenary Cemetery. Ashley H. Foreman

July 1, 1885 ~ February 8, 1975

Passed away in Picture Butte, Alta., on Saturday, February 8, 1975, following a brief illness, Mr. Ashley Henry Foreman at the age of 89 years of the Golden Acres Lodge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Florence Annie Foreman. Born and raised in Manitoba, the late Mr. Foreman moved to Saskatchewan in 1929 residing in the Sceptre district from 1933 to 1958 at which time he moved to Southern Alberta, where he had resided with his son James, until his passing. He is survived by three sons, Mr. John H. Foreman of Calgary, Mr. Norman A. Foreman of Roseneath, Ont., Mr. James A. Foreman of Picture Butte; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Denney and Mrs. Eva Blain, both of Calgary; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife February 10, 1939, and one son Leslie in 1924. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 1975, in Martin Bros. Tranditional Chapel, 812 3rd Ave. S., with Mr. William C. Thwing officiating.  Interment Service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 1975 in Sceptre Cemetery, Sceptre, Saskatchewan. If desired, friend may make donations to the Senior Citizens Organizations at Picture Butte, c/o Mrs. Jim Ostrup, or at Lomond c/o Mrs. R. J. Honess.  Martin Bros. Ltd., Directors of Funeral Service. Florence A. Strath Foreman

February 16, 1886 ~ February 10, 1939

Mrs. Ashley Foreman of Sceptre, Sask., died at her home, February 10, 1939, at the age of 52 years.

 Deceased was born at Whitechurch, Ont., February 16, 1886, and was the oldest daughter of John and Mary Strath. At the age of 20 years she came west to Balcarres, and in 1909 married Ashley Foreman.

  She leaves behind her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Carroll Denney, of Sceptre, Sask., and Eva, of Olds, Alta.; three sons, John and James, of Olds, Alta., and Norman, of Roseneath, Ont.; one sister, Mrs. Ed Stevens, Balcarres, Sask., and one brother, James Strath, Olds., Alta. Regina Leader-Post, Feb. 17, 1939.
