9.4.2. Second child of Sarah J. Adams and Charles Sherwin, Silas Austin Sherwin, was born April 16, 1888, in Alnwick Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.
He married (1) Cora George, daughter of Thomas Henry George and Margaret McDonald, March 20, 1912, in Cobourg, Ontario and had four children:

Silas A. Sherwin died February 19, 1969, aged 74 years in Cobourg, Ontario and Cora George Sherwin died September 2, 1941, aged 53 years in Alnwick Twp., Ontario and are interred at Centenary Cemetery.

Silas A. Sherwin
At the Cobourg District Hospital on Wednesday, February 19, 1969, Silas Austin Sherwin of Roseneath in his 81st year. Surviving are his wife Hildred Taylor; sons Donald and Stewart of Roseneath; Elmer of Hastings; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Edgar Braithwaite (Elva) of Roseneath. Funeral services were held in Roseneath United Church on Friday, February 21, Rev. R. M. Sweeney officiating. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Mar. 5, 1969.
Cora George Sherwin
April 17, 1888 ~ September 2, 1941
Death came suddenly to Mrs. Silas Sherwin on Tuesday, September 2, 1941 at the family residence after an illness of only three days.
Mrs. Sherwin was the wife of a prominent farmer and clerk of Alnwick Township. She was in her 54th year and before her marriage was Cora George, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas George of Alnwick. She was born and had lived her entire life in this township and was a member of Centenary United Church. Mrs. Sherwin, of a quiet retiring disposition devoted her life to her family and home, where she is sadly mourned.
The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at the family residence with interment at Centenary Cemetery. The service was conducted by the pastor Rev. E. L. Beech.
Among the many floral offerings was a spray from Alnwick Township council.
The pallbearers were Messrs. H. and A. Mouncey, M. D. Brown, A. J. Campbell, Ernest Burrison and George Turner.
Among those present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. James Richardson, Mrs. A. Stillman, Mrs. Francis and Bruce Spears of Keene; Mrs. E. Kimble of Peterborough; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Graham of Port Hope; Milford Tucker of Plainville; Robert Waldie, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Waldie, Mrs. Ethel Brown and Miss C. Waldie of Grafton. Hildred A. Taylor Sherwin
March 20, 1900 ~ March 7, 1988
Hildred Sherwin passed away at her residence, 89 Ann St., Cobourg, on Monday, March 7, 1988. Formerly Hildred Taylor, she is the wife of the late Silas Sherwin of Roseneath. Dear sister of Frank Taylor of Oshawa and step-mother of Elmer Sherwin of Hastings. Dear aunt of Rosella Carew of Cobourg and Leilla McFadden of Oshawa and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sherwin is predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Thomas Taylor and two step-sons, Stewart and Donald Sherwin. Friends may call at the Milroy Funeral Home, 301 Division St., Cobourg, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Complete funeral service will be heldin the Milroy Chapel on Wednesday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. Spring interment Centenary Cemetery, Roseneath.
