----- MARRIAGE -----

Tucker—Peebles

A pretty early autumn wedding was solemnized in Atwood Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 20, when Mabel Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Peebles, Atwood, plighted her troth with Earl William Tucker, Trowbridge. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. E. Kelley of Listowel against a seasonal setting of gladioli, asters and fern. Mrs. Stanley Nind played the wedding music, and soloist, Mr. Bill Johnston of Listowel, sang “The Lorid’s Prayer” and “I’ll Walk Beside You.”

Given in marriage by her father, the lovely bride wore white slipper satin fashioned with scalloped neckline, leg-o-mutton sleeves and peplum flowered with seed pearls. Her skirt fell into a slight train, and a headdress matching the gown caught her hem length embroidered illusion net veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of Better Time roses and bouvardia.

Mrs. Elgin Little was her sister’s matron of honor wearing a gown of shell pink taffeta with matching flowered headdress and blue lace mittens. Her colonial bouquet was pink Delight roses.

Mr. Clayton Johnston performed the duties of groomsman, and guests were ushered by Messrs. Jack Peebles, brother of the bride, and Clifford Halpenny.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors. The bride’s table was decorated with pink candles and centred with a three-tier wedding cake. The bride’s mother, received in a gown of turquoise blue crepe with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses; and was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother in a dove gray crepe dress with black accessories and a corsage of red roses.

For a honeymoon in Niagara Falls and points in the United States, the bride donned a china blue crepe frock with light grey topcoat, accessories in black and rose corsage.

Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Tucker will reside in Listowel.

Guests were present from Cobourg, Grimsby, London, Seaforth, Listowel, Toronto, Hensall, Linwood and Mitchell. Atwood Bee, Sept. 25, 1947.
