Shirley Jean Tucker  (1927 ~ 2001)

 

9.5.1.2. Second child of T. Arthur Tucker and Della Earl, Shirley Jean Tucker, was born June 30, 1927, in Logan Twp., Perth Co., Ontario.

  She married Howard Elmer Lee, son of Harold Melville Lee and Etta Robena McConnell, June 29, 1946, in Trowbridge, Logan Twp., Perth Co., Ontario and had four children:

  Shirley J. Tucker Lee died November 16, 2001, aged 76 years in London, Ontario and H. Elmer Lee died May 22, 1981, aged 59 years in Listowel, Ontario and are interred at Elma Centre Cemetery.

----- MARRIAGE -----

 

Tucker—Lee

Against an attractive setting of pink and white peonies and orange blossoms in Trowbridge United Church on Saturday, June 29, Shirley Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tucker, concession two, Elma, plighted her troth with Mr. Elmer Howard Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Lee, Millbank. Rev. S. W. Hann was the officiating minister.

  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin, with long full skirt ending in a train. The molded bodice was buttoned down the back and had drop sleeves and a high round neckline. Held to the head by a coronet of orange blossoms, her embroidered net veil extended over her train. She wore long, white gloves and a three-strand pearl necklace with matching earrings, a gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet of Better Time roses was designed in a shower effect with sweet peas and tiny rosebuds tied with white ribbon.

  Mrs. Alvin Hops, Milverton, as matron of honor, wore a gown of white sheer in floor length with long sleeves. An orange blossom headdress held her shoulder veil and she carried pink roses.

  Little Joan Earl, Mitchell, cousin of the bride, as flower girl wore a long ruffled blue taffeta frock and carried a nosegay of roses.

  Mr. Earl Tucker, brother of the bride, was best man and ushers were Mr. Elwood Hanna, Atwood, and Mr. Alvin Lee, Brampton.

  Mrs. Clara Halpenny played the wedding music and Mrs. S. W. Hann sang “Because I Love You.”

  A receptopn was held at the home of the bride’s parents where Mrs. Tucker received wearing a floral sheer dress of Halifax blue, white and black hat and accessories. her shoulder corsage was of roses. Luncheon was served to 50 guests by Miss Peggy Peebles, Atwood, Miss Marie Lee, Millbank, Miss June Morey, Kitchener, and Miss Joyce Morey, Mitchell. Other assistants were Mrs. Harold Fritz, Mrs. P. A. Coates, Mrs. Frank Coates, Mrs. T. A. Lucas and Mrs. John Wood.

  For a wedding trip to Niagara and eastern Ontario, the bride travelled in a sweetheart rose blue shortie coat, white hat and accessories.

  Mr. and Mrs. Lee will reside in Atwood.

 Guests were present from Guelph, Palmerston, Harriston, Cob-ourg, Milverton, Plainville, Centretown, Mitchell, Kitchener, Millbank, Listowel. Listowel Banner, July 4, 1946.

Shirley J. Tucker Lee

Mrs. Shirley Lee of Listowel passed away in London on November 16, 2001. She was 74.

  Born June 30, 1927, in Logan Township, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Tucker and his late wife, the former Della Earl. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Elmer Lee.

  She is survived by her family, Lorne Lee of Listowel, Ruth and her husband Carman Ruppel of Newry, Elaine Lee of Listowel, and Robert Lee and his wife Christine of R.R.4, Listowel; and three grandchildren, Connie Ruppel, and Shelby and Nathan Lee.

  She is also survived by two brothers, George Tucker and his wife Audrey of Atwood, and Lynn Tucker and his wife Janet of R.R.1, Dorchester; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Peggy Tucker of Listowel.

  She was predeceased by one brother, Earl Tucker.

  Visitation was held on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at Peebles Funeral Home, Atwood, where the funeral was held on Monday, November 19, at 2 p.m. Rev. Sherlee McGregor-McCuaig officated.

  Pallbearers were Jim, Brian, Jeff and Kevin Tucker, and Tom and Jim Lee. Flower-bearers were Jackie Friedmann, Shelly Crummer, Jill Lusted and Brenda Reis. Listowel Banner, Nov. 21, 2001.

 

H. Elmer Lee

September 9, 1921 ~ May 22, 1981

H. Elmer Lee of R.R.2, Listowel, died at his residence on Friday, May 22, 1981, in his 60th year.

  He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Tucker, and two daughters, Mrs. Carman (Ruth) Ruppel, of Atwood; Elaine at home; and two sons, Lorne and Robert both at home. Also survived by one granddaughter, Connie Lyn Ruppel of Atwood; and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Hopf of Orhney Island, B.C.; and Mrs. Marie Riley of London.

  Predeceased by his parents and two brothers.

  Mr. Lee rested at the Peebles Funeral Home, John St., Atwood, until Monday noon, when removal was made to Trowbridge United Church for service at 2 p.m. Rev. Harry Stevens of Atwood officiated at the service.

  Interment was in Elma Centre Cemetery.

  I.O.O.F. No. 332 held a memorial service Sunday evening at 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

  The pallbearers were Cliff Biernes, Elmer Coghlin, Roy Nethercott, Elgin Hamilton, Willis Cressman and Weldon Nichol.

  The flowerbearers were Jeff Tucker, Brian Tucker, Tom Lee and Brenda Reis. Listowel Banner, May 27, 1981.
