Adeline Louisa Adams  (1867 ~ 1929)

 

9.6. Sixth child of Thomas Adams and Jane James, Adeline Louisa Adams, was born September 5, 1867, in Fenella, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.

  She married James Spear, son of William Spear and Margaret Brown, March 19, 1890, in Fenella, Ontario and had two children:

 

• (9.6.1)  Thomas William 'Harold'  (1897 ~ 1981)

• (9.6.2)  Jennie Louisa  (1901 ~ 2000)

 

  Adeline L. Adams Spear died October 16, 1929, aged 62 years and James Spear died April 14, 1951, aged 88 years in Cobourg, Ontario, and are interred at Cobourg Union Cemetery.

Adeline L. Adams Spear

The death occurred at the family residence, north of Brookside, on Wednesday morning, October 16, 1929, of Adeline Louise Adams, beloved wife of Mr. James Spear, in her 63rd year. Mrs. Spear was born in the north end of Haldimand Township, residing there until her marriage to her now bereaved husband, since which time she has lived near Brookside. She was a fine type of Christian woman, and was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church.  In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Harold, and one daughter, Mrs. Macklin. The funeral takes place from the family residence on Friday afternoon to Cobourg Union Cemetery. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Oct. 17, 1929.

 

James Spear

September 25, 1863 ~ April 14, 1951

Born in Haldimand Township 88 years ago, James Spear died in Cobourg General Hospital Saturday, April 14, 1951. 

  A lifelong resident of the district, the late Mr. Spear was well known and liked by all.

  His wife predeceased many years ago. Left to mourn his loss are a son, Harold, at home and daughter, Mrs. W. Macklin of Macklin’s Settlement. A sister is Miss T. Spear, Cobourg.

  After resting at Blacklock’s Funeral Parlors, Grafton, deceased was taked to Cobourg Union Cemetery Tuesday afternoon for burial. Rev. E. W. B. MacKay conducted the services. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Apr. 19, 1951.
