Caroline Alberta Adams  (1870 ~ 1949)

 

9.8. Eighth child of Thomas Adams and Jane James, Caroline AlbertaCarrieAdams, was born November 29, 1870, in Fenella, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.

  She married William Arthur Edward Macklin, son of Edward Payne Macklin and Elizabeth Nill, January 1, 1896, in Fenella, Ontario and had five children:

 

 

  Caroline A. Adams Macklin died December 18, 1949, aged 79 years, in Brighton, Ontario and William A. Macklin died February 10, 1961, aged 90 years in Cobourg, Ontario and are interred at Macklin’s Cemetery.

Caroline A. Adams Macklin

November 29, 1870 ~ December 18, 1949

The funeral service of the late Mrs. William A. Mackin (Carrie Adams) was held December 20, 1949 from her late residence, Fenella, conducted by her pastor, Rev. R. C. White.

  The deceased was born near Fenella 79 years ago and her entire life was spent in this vicinity.

  On January 1, 1896, she was married to William Macklin. In 1946 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a large gathering. She was a member of Fenella United Church and the Women’s Institute and was highly respected by all who knew her.

 Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Muriel, Mrs. Hayden Buttars of Brighton and Gladys of Cobourg; one son, Bruce Macklin of Brighton, also one sister, Mrs. Vernon Brenton of Millbrook and six grandchildren.

 The pallbearers were six nephews Messrs. Silas Sherwin, Roseneath, Harold Spear, Cobourg, Arthur Tucker, Listowel, Thomas Waldie, Grafton and Roy Cowling and Delbert Adams of Fenella.

  The floral tributes were also carried by nephews, Messrs. Delbert and Leslie Sherwin, Edgar Braithwaite of Roseneath, Elvin Tucker, Cobourg, Milford Tucker, Plainville, James Waldie and Floyd Brown, Fenella. Interment was in Bethany (Macklin) Cemetery.

  Included among those from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Giles Nicholas, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Slade, Cobourg; Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Tucker, Cobourg; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tucker, Listowel; Mr. Harold Spear, Cobourg; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Waldie, Grafton; Miss Christine Waldie, Centreton; Mr. and Mrs. Milford Tucker, Plainville; Mrs. C. D. Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Cephas Brisbin, Cobourg. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Jan. 5, 1950.

 

William A. Macklin

August 23, 1870 ~ February 10, 1961

The death occurred February 10, 1961 of William Arthur Macklin, 90, in Cobourg General Hospital, after a short illness.

  Born in Haldimand Township, son of the late Edward P. Macklin, he was a resident of Fenella for many years, but lately had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Macklin, Brighton.

  Mr. Macklin was married in 1896 to Carrie Adams, who predeceased him, also two daughters.

  He is survived by two daughters, Muriel, Mrs. Hayden Buttars, and Gladys, Cobourg; one son Bruce, Brighton; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Service was held from Bowes Funeral Home, Cobourg, with burial in Bethany (Macklin) Cemetery. Rev. B. B. Snow of Brighton, and Rev. R. C. White, Newtonville, officiated.

  Pallbearers were W. I. Montgomery, Frank Down, Fred Ferguson, Beecher McDonald, Charles Fanning, and Earl Boyle. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Feb. 23, 1961.
