9.8.1. First child of Caroline A. Adams and William A. Macklin, Mildred Mary Margaret Macklin, was born January 5, 1899, in Fenella, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.

 

  Mildred M. Macklin died December 5, 1905, aged 6 years, in Fenella, Ontario and is interred at Macklin's Cemetery.

Mildred M. Macklin

Much sympathy is expressed with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Macklin, Haldimand Twp., in the death of their only daughter, little Mildred, who died on Thursday, December 5, 1905. Her age was 6 years, 11 months. The funeral took place from the family residence, Lot 12, Conc. 9, Haldimand Twp., to Bethany church, where service was held. The interment was in Bethany burying ground. Cobourg World, Dec. 8, 1905.

A darling one from us is gone.

A voice we loved is still

A place is vacant in our home

Which never can be filled.

 

Dearest Mildred thou hast left us

And thy loss we deeply feel

But ‘tis God that doth console us

He will all our sorrows heal

 

The winsome smile from off her face

By death could not be driven,

And with a hope of future bliss

She passed from earth to Heaven.

 

‘Twas sad to fold dear Mildred’s hands

So cold and soft and white

With tearful eyes and aching heart

To say they last good night.

 

Young in years she had to go

Here below she could not stay

Our dear darling little one

Death has taken her away

 

Art thou gone forever gone

And left us here to weep

Till we are called to follow thee

And in the grave to sleep.

 

But since thou couldst no longer stay

To cheer us with thy love

We hope to meet with thee again

In yon bright world above.
