Rev. Hommersen officiated and Mrs. Lena Baker played the traditional wedding music. The soloist, Mrs. Frank Hamilton, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and  “At Dawning.”

The bride was given in marriage by her father.  She wore a gown of brocaded taffeta, fashioned on princess lines, the bouffant skirt extended in a long train. The bride carried a lace covered Bible crested with Sweetheart roses, with steamers knotted with rosebuds and bouvardia.

The maid-of-honor was June Butters, of Brighton and the two bridesmaids were Mary Dorland, Hilton, and Audrey Down of Fenella. The three attendants wore gowns of red velvet, with matching hats and mitts. They carried bouquets of white ‘mums.

Mr. Don Kilbank of Toronto was best man and the ushers were Clare Harper, Fenella and Jimmie Dorland of Hilton.

The reception following the service was held in the church parlor, where Mrs. Macklin received the guests. She wore a dress of brown poodle cloth, velvet trimmed, with brown accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses. Owing to the illness of the groom’s mother, Mrs. Harold Peister, sister of the groom, took her place in the receiving line.

For travelling to the United States, Mrs. Dorland’s costume was a suit of burgundy gabardine, with black accessories and a corsage of Lester Hibbard roses. Upon their return, Mr. and Mrs. Dorland will reside near Wooler.
