Muriel Alberta Macklin  (1911 ~ 1999)

 

9.8.4. Fourth child of Caroline Adams and Arthur Macklin, Muriel Alberta Macklin, was born June 26, 1911, in Fenella, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.

  She married Arthur Hayden Butters, son of James Butters and Cynthia Ida May Ada Elizabeth Brisbin, September 23, 1933, in Fenella, Ontario and had four children:

 

 

  Muriel A. Macklin Butters died July 18, 1999, aged 88 years and A. Hayden Butters died August 17, 1992, aged 84 years in Cobourg, Ontario and are interred at Cobourg Union Cemetery.

----- MARRIAGE -----

Macklin—Butters

Fenella, Sept. 27.—The marriage of Muriel Alberta, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. A. Macklin to Arthur Hayden Butters, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Butters, Harwood, took place at 3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, September 23, at the home of the bride.

The room was prettily arranged with cedars, dahlias and autumn flowers.

  The ceremony was solemnized by Rev. R. W. Paton, M.A., B.D., Roseneath, assisted by Rev. James Leach, Gore’s Landing. The bride given in marriage by her father was lovely in her wedding gown of ivory French crepe fashioned on princess form and with it she wore the customary bridal veil of tulle caught with flowers. She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses. She entered the dining room to the strains of the “Wedding March” by Lohengrin, played by Miss G. Knox.

  The bridesmaid, Miss Florence Macklin was daintly attired in a dress of blue transparent velvet and carried a bouquet of deep pink roses. Mr. Clayton Butters, cousin of the groom, was groomsman.

  During the signing of the register a duet, “I Love You Truly”, was sung by Miss Helen Knox and Miss Eileen Sykes.

Immediately following the ceremony a dainty wedding breakfast was served to about seventy relatives and near friends of the contracting parties, the tables being decorated with roses.

  Later in the afternoon the bride and groom left amid a shower of confetti and good wishes for Toronto and points west. The bride travelling in a gown of brown crepe and satin with coat and hat in matching accessories.

  On their return they will reside in Harwood. Cobourg World, Oct. 6, 1933.

Muriel A. Macklin Butters

Peacefully at Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg on Sunday, July 18, 1999, Muriel Alberta Macklin, in her 89th year, beloved wife of the late Arthur Hayden Butters. Dear mother of June Haynes and her husband Douglas of Cobourg, Lenore Thoman and her husband Russell of Brantford, Catherine McLean and her husband Robert of Nepean, Neil Butters and his wife Beth of Cobourg. Loving grandmother of Jocqueline, Richard, Robbie, Heather, Michael, Alyssa and great-granddaughter, Emily. Predeceased by her brother Bruce Macklin and his wife Muriel. Service will he held at Golden Plough Lodge in the Chapel on Wednesday, July 21 at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to call 1 hour prior to service. Interment Cobourg Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Golden Plough Lodge in lieu of flowers would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Ross Funeral Chapel, 135 Walton St., Port Hope. A. Hayden Butters

September 28, 1908 ~ August 17, 1992

Suddenly at Cobourg and District General Hospital, Arthur Hayden Butters on Monday, August 17, 1992 in his 85th year. Hayden Butters was the beloved husband of Muriel Macklin and loving father of June and Douglas Haynes, of Cobourg, Lenore and Russell Thoman of Mississauga, Catherine and Robert MacLean of Ottawa and Neil and Beth Butters of Cobourg.  Mr. Butters is fonly remembered by six grandchildren. Friends may call at the Milroy Funeral Home, 301 Division St., Cobourg on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service will be conducted at Baltimore United Church on Wednesday, August 19 at 2 p.m. Interment Cobourg Union Cemetery. If friends so desire, remembrances made to the Baltimore United Church would be appreciated by the Butters Family. Cobourg Daily Star, Aug. 18, 1992.
