Veronica Glowacki  (1874 ~ 1948)

 

2. Second child of Antonius Glowacki and Anna Soszal, Feuronia “Veronica” Glowacki, was born September 18, 1874, in Horodnica, Husiatyn, Galicia, [now Ukraine].  

  She married Alexander North (né Gnit), son of George Gnit, c. 1899, in Horodnica, Galicia and had six children:

 

  • (2.1)  Anna  (1901 ~ 1989)

  • (2.2)  Petrus  (1907 ~ Died at Sea)

  • (2.3)  Michael  (1908 ~ 1909)

  • (2.4)  Cathleen  (1912 ~ 2005)

  • (2.5)  Alexander  (1914 ~ 1977)  

  • (2.6)  Mary Christina  (1918 ~ 1967)

 

  Veronica Glowacki North died November 12, 1948, aged 74 years and Alexander North died March 26, 1944, aged 78 years, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and are interred at St. John’s Cemetery.

Veronica Glowacki North

September 18, 1874 ~ November 12, 1948

Mrs. Veronica North, well known and respected resident of Glace Bay died this morning at the family home, 5 Mullins Street.

  Mrs. North has been in poor health for some time, but her death this morning was unexpected. Widely known and respected by all her passing is mourned throughout the community.

 She was a native of the Ukraine and was 74 years of age. Mrs. North has resided in Glace Bay for the past 45 years. She was predeceased by her husband by four years.  

  She is survived by a son, Alex North and three daughters, Mary at home, Annie in Toronto and Kathleen in Ontario.  

  Mrs. North was a member of St. John’s parish. Funeral arrange-ments have not been completed. Sydney Post-Record, Nov. 13, 1948.

 

Alexander North

1866 ~ March 26, 1944

The death of Alex North, well known resident of New Aberdeen, Nova Scotia, occurred yesterday morning. The late Mr. North was a native of the Ukraine, but for the past 43 years had lived in town.

  He was employed in No. 2 colliery and is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Harold George (at home), Mrs. Steve Posiwy (Toronto), Mrs. Alex Gramada (Windsor, Ont.), and one son, Alex at home.

  The funeral will be held from his late residence, 5 Mullins St., New Aberdeen. Funeral arrangements will be announced later and are under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Homes. Glace Bay Gazette, Mar. 27, 1944.
