Anne Glowaski  (1916 ~ 2007)

 

7.2. Second child of Peter Glowaski and Martha Strychalski, Anna (Anne) Glowaski, was born September 18, 1916, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba.  

 She married Nicolaus “Nick” Pihan, son of Harry Pihan and Mary Machen, November 7, 1931, in Oshawa, Ontario and had two children:

 

  • (7.2.1)  Norman William  (1936 ~ 2019)

  • (7.2.2)  Patricia Sophie  (1950 ~ )

 

  Anne Glowaski Pihan died March 21, 2007, aged 90 years in Brampton, Ontario and Nick Pihan died February 16, 1980, aged 74 years in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Anne Glowaski Pihan

September 18, 1916 ~ March 21, 2007

Anna Pihan passed away peacefully on March 21, 2007 at Tall Pines Nursing Home in Brampton, Ontario in her 90th year. Anna was born in 1916, second child to Peter and Martha Glowaski in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married Nicholas Pihan on November 7, 1931 and had two children Norman and Patricia whom they raised in Weston, Ontario. Anna worked at, and retired from, Dominion grocery store. She lived her retirement years in Brampton. She is survived by her son Norman and daughter-in-law Luba Pihan, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Doug Dunning, grandchildren Deborah and Glen Gordon, Donna Pihan and Dean Litzenberger, Denise and Scott Vasey, Jeffery Dunning, and Whitney Dunning, great-grandchildren Derek Gordon, Kyle Gordon and Curtis Vasey. Surviving siblings: Tom Grant, Paul Grant, Beatrice Smegal, Mary Mothersill, Rose Dale, Margie Diskey. Predeceased by her husband Nicholas Pihan and siblings Philip Glowaski, Kathleen Kolynko, Teany Boyar, Michael Glowaski and Peter Glowaski. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave.), Weston on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Entombment at Royal York Cemetery with reception to follow. Relatives and friends welcome. Special thanks to Dr. Manacki, Joy, Karen and all the caregivers at Tall Pines for the amazing care that was provided to Anna during her residency. Nick Pihan

January 10, 1906 ~ February 16, 1980

Suddenly at home on Saturday, February 16, 1980, Nick Pihan, of Weston, dearly beloved husband of Anna, loving father of Norman and Patricia. Devoted grandfather of Deborah, Donna-Lynn, and Denise, dear father-in-law of Luba and Douglas. Resting at the Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, 2104 Kipling Ave., (N. of Rexdale Blvd.) from Monday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Service in the chapel Wednesday 11 a.m. Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery. Toronto Star, Feb. 18, 1980.
