----- MARRIAGE -----

Mothersill—Adams

The marriage of Miss Lynn Marie Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Adams of Bowmanville, and Mr. Patrick Edwin Mothersill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Mothersill of Oshawa, was solemnized in St. Paul’s United Church, Bowmanville, on Saturday afternoon, October 16, 1971, at three o’clock. Floral arrangements of white ‘mums and mauve single ‘mums in standards formed a lovely setting for the ceremony.

Rev. H. A. Turner was the officiating clergyman and Mr. Ross Metcalf played the wedding music. The soloist, Mrs. M. McDonald, sang Together Forever and The Wedding Prayer.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white ripple pleat triple georgette. Beaded lace adorned the high neckline and long sleeves, and the slightly gathered waistline was accented by baby blue satin ribbon which flowed to the beaded lace hemline. Her elbow length veil was held by a looped band-headpiece of beaded lace and tiny blue flowers, and her bridal bouquet was of white and baby blue carnations, pink sweetheart roses, and stephanotis.

Miss Lee Adams was maid of honor for her sister and the bridesmaids were Miss Lenore Adams, sister of the bride, Miss Marleah Malcolm and Mrs. Tom Grant, cousins of the bride. Miss Rose Marie Diskey was flower girl and her twin brother, Ronald Diskey, was ring bearer. They are cousins of the groom.

The senior attendants were attired in full length gowns of screen printed polyester crepe in shades of blue, turquoise and mauve, styled with full length gathered sleeves, with royal blue velvet bands around the sleeves and around the mid-rift extending to a bow in back. The flower girls frock was in the same styling with a velvet vest. Matching velvet bows nestled at the back of their coiffeurs, and the senior attendants carried bouquets of white and mauve single ‘mums with pale blue star flowers. The flower girl carried a white basket filled with the same flowers.

Mr. David Mothersill, brother of the groom, was best man and ushering were Mr. Jim Grant, Mr. Tom Grant, both cousins of the groom, and Mr. Albert Guest.

The reception was held at the Lions Centre, Bowmanville. The bride’s mother received wearing a matching violet dress and coat of pompadour doeskin crepe in street length. A band of white pearls accented the neckline of the sleeveless dress and the coat cuffs were adorned with similar trim. Her accessories were in the same shade. The groom’s mother assisted to receive and wore a street length dress of pink polyester crepe with full, sheer chiffon sleeves gathered to cuffs trimmed with pink beading, and matching sleeveless coat was highlighted at the neckline with the pink beading. Both wore corsage of white carnations and medium pink sweetheart roses.

As the happy couple left on their wedding trip both wore matching pants and vests of yarn dyed double-knit in plum and moss herringbone design and co-ordinating shirts of mauve crepe. A corsage of gardenias complemented the bride’s ensemble. Mr. and Mrs. Mothersill are residing in Oshawa.

The bride attended Bowmanville Public and High Schools, Courtice Secondary School and Career Schools of Hairdressing, Oshawa. She is employed as a photo finisher at Hallmark Photo, Oshawa, and is also a hairdresser. A printing pressman, the groom attended public and high schools in Oshawa.

The bride was guest of honor at several parties prior to her marriage. A miscellaneous shower, held at the home of Mrs. Mary Bak, Oshawa, was given by relatives of the groom. Neighbours of the groom held a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Mary Durno, Oshawa.

Following the wedding rehearsal, the bridal party was entertained by the groom’s parents at their home in Oshawa. Bowmanville Statesman, Oct. 27, 1971.
