Peter Glowaski  (1888 ~ 1970)

 

7. Seventh child of Antonius Glowacki and Catharina Pilipiec, Petrus “Peter” Glowaski (né Glowacki), was born June 2, 1888, in Horodnica, Husiatyn, Galicia [now Ukraine].  

  He married Marcella “Martha” Strychalski, daughter of Adalbertus “Walter” Strychalski and Ludvinca Petryszyn, May 24, 1914, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba and had 15 children:

  Peter Glowaski died October 18, 1970, aged 82 years and Martha Strychalski Glowaski died November 16, 1991, aged 91 years in Oshawa, Ontario, and are interred at St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery.

Peter Glowaski

June 2, 1888 ~ October 18, 1970

A former employee of Robson-Lang Leathers Ltd., Peter Glowaski of 275 Malaga Rd. died Sunday, at his home. The deceased, who was in his 83rd year, had been in poor health for several years.

  Born in Austria, June 2, 1888, Mr. Glowaski was married, in 1914, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba and had resided in Oshawa for 48 years. A member of St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church, he retired in 1945.

  Mr. Glowaski is survived by his wife, the former Martha Strychalski; seven daughters, Mrs. Nicholas Pihan (Anne) of Toronto, Mrs. John Smegal (Bea) of Ferndale, Michigan, Mrs. Michael Kolynko (Kay) of Oshawa, Mrs. Stanley Boyar (Teany) of Hamilton, Mrs. Edwin Mothersill (Mary) of Oshawa, Mrs. Robert Dale (Rose) of Windsor and Mrs. Frank Diskey (Marjorie) of Oshawa and five sons, Phillip, Michael and Tom of Oshawa, Paul of Orono and Peter of Bowmanville. 

 Also surviving are a brother, Mike, of Saskatoon, Sask.; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

  The deceased is at the Armstrong Funeral Home for Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m. Oshawa Times, Oct. ?, 1970.

Martha Strychalski Glowaski

July 25, 1900 ~ November 16, 1991

On November 16, 1991, Martha Glowaski died at the Oshawa General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

  She was born in Austria on July 25, 1900, a daughter of the late Walter Strychalski and Ludvinca Petryshyn. She moved to Canada in 1901 and settled in Manitoba with her family. She married Peter Glowaski in Winnipegosis, Man. on May 24, 1914. They moved to Oshawa in 1922. He died on October 18, 1970.

  Mrs. Glowaski is suvived by six daughters, Mrs. Anne Pihan of Toronto, Mrs. Bea Smegal of Michigan, Mrs. Teany Boyar of Oshawa, Mrs. Mary Mothersill of Oshawa, Mrs. Rose Dale of Oshawa and Mrs. Marjorie Diskey of Oshawa; four sons, Paul of View Lake, Michael of Oshawa, Tom of Oshawa and Peter of Marmora; sisters Mrs. Anne Prokopchuk of Oshawa, Mrs. Kathleen Stronski of Oshawa; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Phillip and a daughter, Kathleen Kolynko died before her.

  Armstrong Funeral Home conducted the funeral arrangements. A service was held on November 19, 1991 in the chapel. Interment followed in St. Gregory’s Cemetery. Oshawa Times, Nov. ?, 1991.
