Phillip Glowaski  (1915 ~ 1989)

 

7.1. First child of Peter Glowaski and Martha Strychalski, Phillip Glowaski, was born March 31, 1915, in Fork River, Manitoba.  

 He married Winnifred Margaret Kent, daughter of Clement Peter Kent and Matilda Elizabeth Smith, September 9, 1939, in Oshawa, Ontario and had two children:

• (7.1.2)  Phyllis Louise  (1941 ~ )

 

  Phillip Glowaski died February 18, 1989, aged 73 years and Winnifred M. Kent Glowaski died January 28, 1996, aged 78 years in Oshawa, Ontario.

Phillip Glowaski

March 31, 1915 ~ February 18, 1989

A resident of Oshawa most of his life, Phillip Glowaski died at his residence on Saturday, February 18, 1989.

  He was a son of Martha Strychalski and the late Peter Glowaski and was born on March 31, 1915 in Fork River, Manitoba.

  Mr. Glowaski was married on September 9, 1939 to the former Winnifred Kent.

  He was employed at Robson Lang for nine years and at General Motors for 32 years. He retired in 1976.

  Mr. Glowaski was a member of the Canadian Auto Workers Union, Local 222 retirees.

  He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Arlene McCarthy of Oshawa and Phyllis Oliver of Myrtle; seven sisters, Anne Pihan, Beatrice Smegal, Kay Kolynko, Teany Boyar, Rose Dale, Mary Mothersill, Margie Diskey; four brothers, Paul, Michael, Tom and Peter; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

  Mr. Glowaski was resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home and a Mass of Christain Burial was held at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church on February 21, 1989, followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery.

  Prayers were held at the funeral home on February 20, 1989.

Winnifred M. Kent Glowaski

June 17, 1917 ~ January 28, 1996

After a lengthy and courageous battle with lung disease, at the Oshawa General Hospital, on Sunday, January 28, 1996. Winnifred Margaret Glowaski, nee Kent. Dearly beloved wife of the late Phillip Glowaski. Loving mother of Arlene McCarthy and her husband Jim of Newcastle and Phyllis Oliver and her husband Art of Myrtle Station. Sadly missed by grandchildren Kevin and David Oliver and Margaret, Donald, and Sharon McCarthy. Little Nana of Kallie and Jamie. Dear sister of Louise Curran of Madoc, John Kent of Roseneath, and the late Mary. Mrs. Glowaski devoted twenty-two years of dedicated service to Meals on Wheels, Red Cross. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St., East Oshawa (433-4711). Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church on Wednesday, January 31, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby. Memorial Donations to the Durham Lung Association or Hospital For Sick Children would be appreciated. Visitation commencing Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Oshawa This Week, Jan. 31, 1996.
